Customer Reviews of 10 Feather Razor Blades NEW Hi-stainless Double EdgeCustomer Review: Great blade, but not for the faint of heart Summary: 5 Stars
I had used Merkur exclusively and thought that was as good as it got. I tried Feather based on their reviews and shazam!
These are the sharpest blades I can imagine. The didn't pull even the slightest bit. I had to check to make sure there was actually a blade in the razor and that it was actually cutting! The other reviews are spot on. They're extremely sharp and because of that they nick easily. It takes a very light touch and for new shavers they may be a bit too unforgiving. It might be better to start with a duller blade and be happy with a less close shave. Don't press hard with the other blades to compensate because if you learn that way and then move to these Feather blades you'll be deeply wounded. If you can get through a few weeks of shaving without looking like they shaved with a fork then move to these blades for a much closer shave with the same technique.
There's really a dramatic difference between Feather and the Merkur blades.
Customer Review: Much sharper than Merkur that's for sure Summary: 5 Stars
I've never written a review on Amazon, but I just had to for this product. It is very sharp and goes through hairs like a hot knife through butter. I am using a Merkur 180 razor, and used the Merkur blade that came with it. I was somewhat unimpressed with it since I have thick hair on my face, and decided to try out the Feather due to its supposed sharpness. I am very impressed. It cut through the hairs much more easily than the Merkur. We'll see if it lasts longer though since the Merkur blade only lasted for about 2 or 3 shaves before it started pulling. The only issue I have is that I still manage to nick to neck even with this sharp razor, but I'm sure it's still due to my lack of experience using these types of razors.
Oh, and I realize people write saying these blades bloody their faces up. I had no issues at all with that. I had two or three small nicks on my neck, and that's it. Maybe they were shaving in the dark or with a vibrating razor?
Customer Review: Great, don't be afraid of them Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using Derby blades for a while and, while I was satisfied with them, I thought I'd try the legendary sharp Feathers.
Feather blades are sharp, sharper than any blade, but don't be afraid of them; you will not shred your face to pieces, period. If you are shredding your face with ANY "safety" razor (key word being SAFETY) then you should probably stop reading this review and consider an electric razor.
They are very sharp and they gave me the closest, smoothest shave I have ever gotten. At first I didn't notice much of a difference, but when I was done there was no hint that facial hair grew on my face, I got a really smooth shave and a baby butt face. They are a bit more expensive than the Derbys I was using but well worth the price. Don't get me wrong, Derby blades are excellent, but these are my new favorites and I will stick with them.
Customer Review: I am a convert! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using the standard merk safety blades for about 3 years now, and after seeing the postive feedback and reviews of these feather blades thought I would give them a try. OMG! It was like shaving with butter! It was so soft and smooth! What normally takes a few passes (with the grain) took only 1 pass and I didnt even need to flip over the ravor! It put the merk's to shame! I have curly hair so ingrown hairs come natural if I dont take care while shaving, so I was hesitant that such a close shave would cause issues, but there has been no problems with these blades.
I do agree that these should be treated like a weapon, and NOT be used when starting out with a tradional ravor. Start with the standard merk's and get use to how to avoid cuts, and holding the ravor properly for your face then step up to feather blades.
Customer Review: sharpest blade I've ever used Summary: 5 Stars
Opinions differ on Feather blades. My own experience has been very good. Three or even four days of extremely close, easy shaves with very little irritation. Definitely the sharpest razor blades I've ever used. A brand new feather zips through days of beard growth very easily.
Some people have a rough time with these blades. Apparently either due to skin type/beard type, or lack of proper shaving technique. If you're just upgrading from a Gillette or Schick multi-blade system, don't expect to come away blood-free. You *will* cut yourself. Someone just coming from the expensive multi-blade systems needs to start with a milder blade, such as a Merkur.
I gave these blades 5 stars based on my personal experience. As I mentioned, your experience may vary.
