I bought the 2 lb. container. Didn't believe in all the hype. Used the shea and love it! I use it on my natural/transitioning hair along with coconut oil and I also use the shea butter on my body as a moisterizer prior to using my Johnson & Johnson 24 hour lotion. Yes, the shea has a smoky smell...not gonna lie but it does disappear after application...no joke.
I don't know if anyone is aware of the term "chicken-skin", referring to the bumps on the back of arms and thighs but I had a problem with those. Went to the dermatologist over a year ago for a consult. Over $300 later and unsatisfactory results I decided to so some research which led me to "Organic/Natural Shea butter". Literally 1-2 days after applying to skin (I swear by this) I felt a difference in the texture of my skin. The chicken bumps noticeably reduced. I can't wait for winter because now I know that I have real...proven effective solution for my dry skin.

Side note: I'm no doctor...yet but I think that the bumps are due to dry skin which is exacerbated by contact with bed sheets. Whatever moisterizers we apply to the skin daily, prior to going to bed gets rubbed off. The rubbing against the sheets causes friction and causes our skin to remain dry. Unlike other lotions the shea is absorbed into the skin almost immediately and this is why I'm still using it.

African Shea Butter Creams 16 Oz. (100% Pure & Raw)
This helped with extremely dry skin. I've used it for about a year. Tried both the Gold and White. The white seems lighter and not as potent. The gold has a scent similar to cocoa butter. I recently ordered a second batch (3 containers to one batch lasted several months. However, maybe because this is a natural product, I am unsure, but before opening container, I noticed one batch had greenish, blue tinge in some areas. I contacted the seller, who immediately sent replacement products.

So, I ordered this again and what a great experience! It was wrapped differently for shipping and one container lasts me about 5 months. On the second container now and it is still fresh, rich and creamy. The consistency is creamier. I love that moisturizes like no other lotion that I have tried except Ecco Bella, but without the liquid consistency. If in a hurry, scoop some in hand, rub together, rub onto body part and go. Wait a few minutes, if applying to feet in sandals, as it can cause feet to slide and slip a bit. Even on extremely dry skin, put it on in the morning and it lasts throughout the day into late night. In sunny, hot conditions, I use an SPF over it, as I think it would may cause sunburning.

It stains and is pretty gritty.
A quick google search came up w/ the cause:
"Gritty Shea. Again, complications in processing."
"Improper heating of shea butter can cause the butter to crystallize as it cools. This crystallization can cause lip balms, body butters and other formulations to turn gritty."
After a shower, I would sit in front of the heater to hurry the melting process of applying the butter. The gritty feeling was kind of annoying, but my skin did drink it up. I got dressed and then noticed the butter had stained my clothes a gross yellow.
I also applied this to my hair which is very chemically abused, and pretty dried. This thing made me look like I havnt showered in a week. Also, after a few applications (applying to my hair at night and washing it out in the morning) I havnt noticed my hair softer, shinier, or anything.
I'll update after more usage if my skin has improved or the stains is washable, or if my hair will benefit from this at another date. As it;s supposedly all natural, I will continue to give this some more time to "work."
Also, if I run out of this stuff and it does work, I probably will try a different brand.
Seller, fast shipping, but does not respond to my emails! Would hate to think if there was a true problem w/ my order.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the PURE SHEA BUTTER...I'm 33 and am living with Sickle Cell Anemia & I used and was faithful to coconut butter for a long time...But after attending a Sickle Cell Convention and purchasing this Shea butter from an African Vendor,I FELL IN LOVE!!! My hubby(who is very skeptical)and who also used to swear by vaseline. He tried it for the 1st time fell in love...I once paid $18 bucks for a 2ounce container of what I THOUGHT was real shea butter and was perplexed. b/c I paid $5 bucks & got a 20 oz. jar of SB in itz raw form and was blown away. I am frequently in the hospital for my Sickle Cell sometimes up to 2 weeks at a time and when I get out itz like I take a mud bath in the Shea butter, it rejuvenates my skin from head to toe and I just have to say "Where have you been all of my life"...I will never ever use anything else on my skin, I'm beginning to experiment and add a lil vanilla essential oils to it and also add some sea salts or raw brown sugar to it for a 100% NATURAL BODY SCRUB, how do I know its all natural??? Because , I made it myself!!! Oh, and for easier application, heat it up in the microwave just until melting point for about 30 seconds at a time and it becomes very clear and smoother to apply to delicate skin...I do it that way to smooth it onto my 4 year old daughter's sensitive skin. This is an excellent and relatively inexpensive moisturizer. I occasionally suffer eczema and this mild moisturizer does not worsen the condition as most moisturizers do in my experience. It can be used for deep moisturizing or in smaller quantities as a light moisturizer such as under the eyes.
The shea butter is packed in a plastic tub with a screw lid. It is the consistency of refrigerated butter and melts easily. It's necessary to rub the moisturizer with your hands for about 3 seconds before applying it. At first your skin will be oily, but after about three minutes the skin becomes soft and there is no more oiliness than a regular moisturizer.
I received a tub of part yellow, part white shea butter (approximately 90% yellow and 10% white). The white is harder and doesn't seem to work as well. The yellow shea butter does not tint the skin or clothing.
Be warned: only use this on your skin or lips (works well as a chapstick substitute). Do not attempt to put it on inner areas such as inside the mouth, because in those areas it will congeal and become like glue and is very difficult to remove. It will probably take several days to remove it completely from inner areas. If used properly, this is a mild, highly effective moisturizer for dry, sensitive or healthy skin.
