Customer Review: Great stethoscope

I really like this stethoscope. I'm in RN school, and I know it's beyond what I need at this level, but I have some minor problems hearing and wanted to invest in a good tool. I got the plum color -- is not as dark as it looks in the photo, but that's okay. The acoustics are fantastic. The scope comes with several types of ear pieces, which is great -- I have a smaller one for my left ear because that ear canal is odd and usually with headphones or steths, I can't hear well from that side because I can't get a tight seal. Not so with this stethoscope! I had mine personalized on the tubing so it wouldn't get stolen -- first name, last initial, and that part is nice, too.
I am looking forward to using this on a cardiac clinical rotation to learn what all I can hear. So far I've used it mostly for very routine stuff -- lungs, bowels, blood pressure, basic heart sounds. You can hear everything in this -- almost, really, to the point that it can be tough for someone like me who is new to the medical field because I don't even feel like I know enough to be able to use this tool to its maximum capacity. I figure I'll grow into it.
Before this, I had the lightweight Littmann SE with the tunable diaphragm and no bell. I didn't like it at all -- in fact, I liked the cheap stethoscopes better than that. Returned that one for this one, and it's definitely worth the price difference I think, if you want something nice. I don't think for basic nursing school stuff or routine nursing care that you would need a stethoscope this nice, but for a gift or a splurge, it's fantastic. I am the type of person who will invest in a good tool -- both to help me learn better and do better at my job, and also because I appreciate quality.

The pediatric side of the chest piece easily converts to a traditional bell by simply replacing the diaphragm with the nonchill bell sleeve included with each stethoscope.
