I purchased a Robitussin Humidifier at a garage sale without the wicking filter. Since installing this filter the humidifier has worked well. The top edges of this filter never seem to stay moist, and quickly discolor due to mineral buildup. It seems the wicking action cannot keep up with evaporation. I don't know if this is true of this humidifier design in general (I never used it with the original filter), is a consequence of my environment (relative humidity, or water quality), or is a minor inadequacy of this filter. In any-case it does not significantly impair the function of my system.
