I have purchased Stakich's domestic bee pollen, Brazilian, Spanish, Australian. I buy the 1 lb containers and mix them together to make a more nutritious blend.
This bee pollen has a very sweet taste. Each one is slightly unique in taste and nutritional profile. The texture is soft and light and easy to chew. Because it is raw and unprocessed, the pollen granules are not hard like other, processed brands.
For me, I find all the varieties to be enjoyable. I will often snack on it right out of the jar. Every morning I take a tablespoon a day as a blend. This is what I use in place of a man-made multivitamin.
It is also a fantastic value. The health food store sells pollen for over twice the price.
I once had a problem with the Spanish pollen having an "off" taste. This could be due to a couple of reasons. Pollen that is fresh and raw has moisture and it can spoil if left of refrigeration too long.
If the pollen is being delivered on a hot, summer day, for example, it could slightly spoil while in transit. If you are concerned about this, I would ask if the company could pack it on ice for you (probably an extra charge, I don't know) but that would help it stay fresh in shipping.
Keep in mind that pollen taste can vary slightly depending upon season and what is flowering at the time. I have since purchased the pollen several times after that without it being packed on ice and I've had no issues.
You have to remember that a raw, live, whole food, is being shipped to you, so use common sense for your particular geographic area and climate, transit time and possible heat exposure.
