Customer Reviews of Acquarella Nail Polish, VixenCustomer Review: Great Nail Polish Summary: 4 StarsI love that this nail polish has no toxic smell at all. It goes on great and best of all comes off easily (I use Honeybee Gardens odorless remover). Not all water-based nail polishes come off easily but this works the same as a commercial nail polish. It lasted fine even though I didn't bother doing any of the prep work as recommended. The only reason I give it a 4 is that the color (Bikini) turned out different from what I was expecting; I had hoped it would be a lighter, pinker nude color and it came out a light orange beige on me but that's probably because it's hard to judge color online.
Customer Review: great nail polish Summary: 5 Starsgreat nail polish, bright and shiny. can last 2 wks but then it's harder to remove than after 1 wk, doesn't chip on toenails. have not used on fingernails.
Customer Review: Great non-toxic polish, too bad the customer service is absolute crap Summary: 5 StarsThis is the main competitor to Honeybee Gardens Watercolor Polish [....] , which I love, but who doesn't make red! The products are identical aside from the use of FD&C colours by Acquarella and only earth-based colours at Honeybee.
Wearability: incredible, as long as you follow directions (apply at night, let "cure" while sleeping). If you don't do this, expect a chip within a day, even on the toes. Lasts longer during warmer and moister weather, might chip more easily during cold, dry weather (true also with regular polish). The odor is minimal, and smells like acrylic paint (which it is).
I used Honeybee's polish remover from Whole Foods and it worked well (far better than using rubbing or grain alcohol).
I wish this were sold in stores or salons, which is another reason I'm more a fan of Honeybee (if a store carries any of their products, you can have them order it for you, saving on shipping).
Then again, their website has 5 shades of red with adequate descriptions for each, so I'll have to use both brands for now.
Update 9/14/2009:
It's funny that I've had zero problems with Amazon until this last order, and their customer service stinks.
I ordered this item on August 28; apparently, it was supposed to arrive by September 10 (2+ weeks for shipping????). It didn't. I emailed regarding the problem, and they told me I had already refused shipment of the clothes dryer. Um, I was asking about the nail polish. 2 more emails later and another phone call, I was told that although it apparently arrived at one of the post offices, it would have to be returned.
Wait--I still haven't received it.
I asked for a replacement; no, you must reorder, and we'll consider it a return so that we can take our time processing the refund while you decide to reorder and wait whomever knows how much longer for another product. It's been over 2 weeks, mind you.
You're kidding, right?
So I thought I could go around Amazon and order directly through Acquarella, even if that meant I had to pay for shipping.
Funny thing is that this manufacturer ships exclusively through Amazon now. So when you're SOL, you're SOL.
I ordered 2 bottles of Plasma for my reorder, and hope they'll arrive before I leave for my diving holiday in October. I lost the last bottle in my move, and in my attempt to be environmentally conscious, have decided NOT to purchase a conventional brand. Which has meant I've had bare toes for 2 months, during sandal season.
Honeybee Gardens doesn't have a pure red, which is all I wear. They do have, on the other hand, excellent customer service. I should look into red dye powder to mix with Honeybee Garden's red so I don't have to deal with Amazon and their crappy service again.
Customer Review: Does not last long.... Great product but disappointing. Summary: 3 StarsLike other people mentioned, it is very light, odorless, dries fast and looks great. Colors on the website and the brochure do look slightly different, but I understand how hard it is to match the color, so I won't complain about that.
I was so happy to have purchased this product for a little while. However, my nail polish did not last very long. To be precise, it lasted for a whole day.
Since this is a water-based product, any contact to water softens the surface fairly quickly. I take bath daily, wash dishes with hands and go swimming often. After one of these activities, my nail polish chipped or peeled or no longer shiny.
I tried different ways such as not soaking my hands while bathing, putting rubber gloves on when I wash dishes, let the nail polish dries & harden for a whole day before extended contacts with water. None of them worked to my satisfaction.
I love this product for its strengths, but loath it for is weaknesses. I literally have to apply a fresh coat before leaving the house everyday. Also, it takes at least 3 times longer to remove this nail polish than conventional one.
I purchased Acquarella Remover, 3 different colors of nail polish, Conditioner and Moisturizer. That's $90 investment. They need to come up with a strong top coat to meet the investment.
Customer Review: Love using the product, no more nail troubles! Summary: 5 StarsI have had problems in the past with regular polish and remover degrading the condition of my nails, making them dry and prone to peeling. This is eliminated by using the Aquarella polishes. Although the first few times I used these products, I did exactly as instructed, with all of the prep work, the correct remover, etc., now I do not do any of the preps at all, and it still lasts fine on me!As to the remover, I find that plain rubbing alchohol (99 cents per bottle!) works as well as or better than the Aquarella remover. I pour a little into a small bowl, and briefly soak my fingers (or toes!) and then remove with a cotton pad. I pour the remaining alcohol back into the bottle for next time. Works great, really cheap, and not hazardous to my health!!!
