Customer Reviews of Adjustable Non-Tilt Overbed Table / Hospital TableCustomer Review: Worth Every Penny Summary: 5 Stars
I am bed bound for 10-18 hours a day when not lucky enough to be placed in my wheelchair. And I wanted to use my real computer and not my very old laptop that can not play games. I looked for overbed tables for a couple of years and they where all too expensive. This same model locally is in the hundreds of dollars price range. So I thought I would give it a try when I saw it here on Amazon...and it was the same table. It shipped extremely fast and a friend of mine using only hand tools had the table assembled and tested in under five minutes (and he did not rush nor look at instructions).
The table delivers all it promises and more. It is spring loaded and locks in place at the height you desire. And this is one of the very few tables that has a large variety for the table tops height placement. You just press on the handle to release the lock mechanism and it will rise or if you wish to lower it just slight pressure toward the support on the table surface will lower it. I am weak now and I can easily control this table. It is perfect for its designed function, being a hospital bed table. I actually have a 24" computer monitor, a keyboard and mouse on it and still have plenty of room for 2 remotes with room left over. I surf the web, play games and rest books on it. And when I am done for the night I just push/roll it out of the way and go to sleep. This is a sturdy table and better than most $100+ ones I saw. I am very pleased with this.
Customer Review: Error in Product Features Summary: 4 Stars
When I bought this, the Product Features claimed that the weight capacity was 40 lbs, which was why I chose this table. It actually has a weight limitation of 25 lbs. The seller told me that it should have said that the _shipping weight_ is 40 lbs.
The table we got was an Invacare Model 6417. This was nowhere mentioned on the web page.
Assembly requires a Phillips screwdriver for the six wood screws that attach the top to the upright, and a 5/8" wrench for the two bolts that attach the upright to the base. The casters can be pushed into place without tools, if you can push hard enough. The reviewer who said they fall off must not have pushed them in all the way.
The height mechanism is spring-loaded, so that when you squeeze the lever to the tabletop, it will rise. To lower it, you push the tabletop down while squeezing the lever.
Apart from the weight capacity disappointment, we are happy with this table.
Customer Review: tray table Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this over the bed table for home use and am very satisfied with the product. It came well packaged and easy to assemble. Working in a medical institution I knew what specifics I was looking for. The T-base (which this product is) is much sturdier than other U-base tables which tend to have issues with the tabletop becoming angled after use. The shiny chrome base is very nice. My college age daughter used it when she was home for a weekend and wants one for herself when she gets her studio apt. She can use it for studying in bed and also for food prep and eating. Overall perfect for the price. :)
Customer Review: VERY HANDY Summary: 4 Stars
This is very convenient and helpful. Beats piling everything up on your nightstand. Less stretching to get things because you can put things right in front of you instead of stretching off to the side. Can easily keep things at your fingertips. Great for mealtimes too. The table easily adjusts upwards. I figured out the trick to get it to go down easily. Just press the release lever and the table on the same side simultaneously. If you you try to press both sides of the table together, it won't go down.
Customer Review: Good, well-built product Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to replace a superficially similar table that was very loosely built and becoming unstable. This table should last much longer. Assembly was reasonably easy. My family uses it to allow easy eating from a chair, rather than as an overbed table, but I don't see any problem with overbed use. The non-tilt nature works well for that purpose (it eliminates potential problems with getting the surface level), but I'd recommend a tilt table for anyone using a table for writing or reading.
