Customer Reviews of Allergan Refresh Plus Lubricant Eye Drops Single-Use Vials - 100 ct.

Customer Review: Excellent relieve
Summary: 5 Stars

I have dry eyes that require me to put drops in several times a day. At its worse my eyes were so dry that I had trouble opening my eyelids in the morning, they were stuck to my eyes. I have tried a large number of eye drops, which helped me with various degrees. In addition to reviewing the Refresh Tears Drops I am posting my experiences with other drops in hope someone might find it of use.

Refresh Tears Drops for Sensitive eyes single use vials work very well. They have no preservatives and are better for sensitive eyes, however they are more expensive the Refresh Tears in a bottle. I use the single vial on the days when my eyes feel particular sensitive. Each vial has 4 drops. When I am at home I am able to use each vial twice, as it is possible to re-close the vial for a second use the same day, but only if you can place the container somewhere it will not be disturbed, since the closure is pretty loose.

On my last visit, my doctor suggested that I try taking 2 triple omega oil pills a day, as he found it really helps eye dryness. I was skeptical, but figured I would give it a try since fish oil has other positive effects. 2 weeks later I really began feeling a difference, my eyelids are no longer stuck to my eyes in the morning. I still use Refresh eye drops, it just does not feel as urgent when I wake up.

I noticed that the price on the on this product fluctuates. There is a nice online tool that I use to help catch a good price on Amazon, this tool is called "Online Price Alert". This tool will send you an email when the Amazon item price reaches the target price range that you specify. If you search on "online price alert" in Google it will be come up at the top. I find this tool to be very helpful.

Below are my experiences with other drops:

My favorite eye drop is Refresh Tears Lubricant Eye drops, 1.08oz bottle. It does not irritate my eyes, it provides a long lasting effect, it does not blur my vision when it is applied. It works equally well during the day and night.

Refresh Liquigel blurs my vision, and when I wake up my eyes a covered with crusty residue of the gell. I don't like it. The packaging of Liquigel looks very similar to Lubricant drops, and at least on one occasion I bought the Liquigel by mistake after I already knew it did not work well for me. I hope this warning helps someone to avoid the same mistake.

Systane lubricant drops irritate my eyes, they become hot and itchy and the eyes need almost constant lubrication. I don't understand why this happens, I don't have any allergies. I have tried this lubricant several times, because my doctor likes it and offers me samples at every visit.

GenTeal Librican Oitment blurs my vision after application, so I can only use it at night. When I wake up my eyes are crusty with the residue of the lubrication.

Genteal Lubricant Gen Aqua does not irritate my eyes, but the effect of the drop seem not to last. I need to reapply these drops much more frequently than Refresh Tears.

Murine Lubricant Drops do not irritate my eyes, but the effect of the drop seem not to last. I need to reapply these drops much more frequently than Refresh Tears.

Visine drops are very inexpensive and work well in my eyes, but my eye doctor told me not to use any lubricant that has `get the red out' in the name. He said it has extra medication to constrict blood vessels in the eye, and he said such drops should not be used for every day use.

Customer Review: Refresh is Refreshing
Summary: 5 Stars

I did my Lasix Eye Surgery almost 4 years ago. It was the best money I ever spent on myself. I had worn glasses since 4th grade and did this at about age 56 or 57. Following the surgery, I needed sterile eye drops about every hour at work for awhile. This product worked wonderfully. Why?

It comes in small individual plastic vial thingies, with a couple of drops in each. Although the box says "single use containers," you can simply twist/pop of the vial cap, put a drop or two in each eye, pop the cap back on, and finish the vial later. That way, you don't waste it. (At least I have been doing this forever, with no problems. You are supposed to use it only once to avoid contamination. Unless your eyes are super sensitive, you can probably use the vial more than once. BTW, you are not supposed to touch your eye with the vial. You hold it above the eyeball, opur eye, and drop a drop in.)

The size of the vial opening seems perfect for dropping one or two drops into your eye. The product does not burn or irritate me, even with eye makeup on.

A box of 100 vials seems to last forever now (well, months anyway.) It is easy to put a bunch in a coin purse and pack them in your purse or makeup case or overnight bag and take them with you wherever you go.

If you are thinking of Lasix surgery, know that you may need to use these all day long at first and slowly decrease over a year or so. I still use them, but usually in the morning when I wake up and in bed at night. I usually have some in my work desk and in my car. If my eyes get tired, I reach for these to refresh them. They are great if your eyes get tired, or dried out from the winter heating system, or if you just cried at a sad movie, or if you have been walking around in the wind, or driving in the sun for awhile. You don't have to have Lasix Eye Surgery to benefit from these eye drops.

BTW, one of the really nice things about this is the individual vials. Although they suggest use once only, I use each one about 3 times. You can stick the little twist cap back on. You only need about a drop in each eye at a time and there are probably 6 drops or so in each vial.

Customer Review: Great post-Lasik, and even if you don't have uber-dry eyes but have allergies
Summary: 5 Stars

I had LASIK 1.5 years ago and the doc told me to get a box of SYSTANE beforehand so I'd have it handy (along with the Rx's). I used them up, but switched to REFRESH soon after. While Systane works fine, I found it left me with blurryish vision and goop in my eyes after it dried. REFRESH leave a little bit of eye goop (like in the am after using at pm), but it doesn't give me the oilier sort of feel of Systane, and it refreshes like the name says. I like the individual vials for hygienic purposes, even though I'm far enough from surgery to be able to use regular bottle drops. I like being careful with my eyes now, so I trust REFRESH.

I also happen to have a ton of allergies, and August-September is the WORST time of year for my eyes. Itchy and red. So, along with my antihistamine Rx drops (Patanol), which tend to dry out my eyes, I use REFRESH to get through these awful months.

I didn't get bad dry eyes after LASIK, I guess I got lucky. My eyes are mostly back to normal. But sometimes, using the computer a lot, or reading a lot, or using fans in the summertime, I do feel the dryness. That's why I keep my medicine cabinet stocked with vials of Refresh.

Great product, even if you never had eye surgery.

Customer Review: Best I have found for post-Lasik discomfort
Summary: 5 Stars

I had Lasik surgery about ten years ago and have regularly suffered from dry eyes as a result, particularly at night. Over the past few months the discomfort seems to have gotten worse, perhaps from constant computer use. I have tried several eye drop brands and this one is by far the best I have found.

I was using Tears Naturale, which did an okay job, but Allergan Refresh Plus is significantly better. It not only provides better immediate relief, but it also seems to last much longer. It states that the containers are for one-time, single use, but they can be re-closed and used again. I can get about three applications out of one container. I suppose the main thing is to use them quickly once they are opened since they have no preservatives, which is a plus as most Optometrists urge you to use eye drops without preservatives.

The containers that come with Tears Naturale can also be re-closed and used multiple times and are, by the way, larger and therefore contain more fluid, but they are also less effective.

I highly recommend giving this product a try. Good price from Amazon, too.

Customer Review: Great instant relief but doesn't last too long
Summary: 4 Stars

I started using these drops when I got LASIK surgery two months ago, and overall, I'm very happy with them. They are the best drops I have for instant, hassle-free moisturizing relief. The drops are very watery, so they don't last long in my eyes, but they absorb very quickly and don't leave any gummy residue, crustiness, or stickiness in my eyes or eyelashes. They are also preservative free, which makes them better for long-term or frequent use, compared to the big bottles (even though these are more expensive). I like the value-pack: after LASIK, I went through about 1-2 boxes a week for the first month, and now still use the drops at least 2-3 times a day to help my eyes heal.

As an added bonus, the vials can be re-capped and used multiple times (even though the box recommends single uses). I can usually squeeze 2-4 uses out of a single vial, using them on both eyes each time. Make sure to keep your hands clean if reusing the vials, and throw them away after a few hours to prevent any contamination.
