Customer Review: MORE THAN JUST A PILL
Summary: 5 Stars

Well... I almost NEVER leave reviews, but this is important! I've been on the "My Alli Plan" for 5 1/2 weeks and have lost 19 1/2 lbs. You DO have to work the program, it is not magic and not an appetite suppressant. I have lost 65-70 lbs. three times in my life, all on low carbs. Problem is; I can't live the rest of my life with limited carbs, so I have gained it back every time. The solution...with a low calorie and low fat diet, you WILL lose weight and really you can have ANYTHING you want! Just count the grams in your daily allowance.
O.K. about Alli, MORE THAT JUST A PILL, with a purchase you go online and register your product code in your pack. I registered the 90 pill starter pack and I received 90 days of online support, with EVERYTHING you need (as far as tools and information) to follow the plan. If you were to join an online weight loss plan such as Weight Watchers it would cost $65.00 FOR 3 months. So you get that free with ALLI, which is a $65.00 value in itself (which in a way, pays for the pills, mine were $60.00 + tax.). They have a meal planner, a food log, a recipe lookup, a water log, a weekly weigh-in, a calorie and fat counter, an activity log listing calories burned, an automatic tally of what you consume, a weekly plan, with guidance for the next step, and a message forum to talk with others (the buddy system). Sure there is more, but I can't name them all.
All that said, Personally I do NOT space the fat evenly between 3 meals, or limit the fat to the recommended 19 grams per meal, Sometimes I eat 40 grams of the 60 I'm allowed in a day, at 1 meal! I take the pill with the meal, and I have had NO TREATMENT EFFECTS. The only difference in the way I "go" is that I do go every morning after my 1st cup of coffee; it is softer than before, but NEVER runny or uncontrollable; and never an upset stomach or "go cramps".
I think honestly, that the online support plan & useful tools it provides, is worth MORE than the price of the pill. So even if you are one who does not like the pill, for whatever reason...you still get a value with the "My Alli Plan" website.
Furthermore...it teaches you how to follow a plan and what you can eat, and what to substitute for your cravings, that you CAN live with for life.
If you fall off, don't think it's over, get back on! Enjoy, eat healthier, and live long!

Customer Review: worst experience I ever had
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought Alli Weight-Loss Aid, Orlistat 60mg Capsules, 90-Count Starter Pack in Dec,2009 and kept track of myself on their website before they changed it. I religiously followed the instruction, ate 1000 calories per day(all healthy food) and worked out 45mins(7 days non stop). I lost about 14 pound in a month, I think it was because of my diet/excercise, not because of the pills. In that month, I had orange oil/fat in my poop and stain on my underwear(it is very hard to wash). The most horrible thing was that I had 18 days period, which never happened in my life. My period is always 7 days every month, with that much food I ate, my period should be less/shorter, but that wasnt the case. My period was more than usual. Then I stopped taking the pill, my period became usual again.(hooray) Also, I lost all my records due to the website change, I couldnt find any useful forum posts on their forum anymore. People actually complained a lot on their website, a lot of women had menstrual problem(like period disappear, or longer period). But all those postive/negative comments were gone =/

So after 7 months, I started my diet again with this pill, I took it twice a day(lunch and dinner) and I used calorie count to help tracking calories intake. The same diet and work out routine, I lost about 6 pound in half month. This time my period came 10 days earlier, I bled for 2 days, then it stopped. After 1 more day, it started again, then I had severe cramp with diarrhea, the pain was unbearable(the feeling is like you took multivatamin with empty stomach), my colon was painful and my belly was bolated. I was laying on the bed, not matter how I adjusted my position, I felt horrible. After 4-5 hours, I finally fell asleep, the dull pain was still there. This morning, I decided to write this review to share my experience, now I still feel light headed and bloated. I know all the suffering was from the alli pill, because my husband ate the same food as me, he was fine. I suffered the pain for 4-5 hours straight in 20mins after I took the pill.

It might work for you, but alli is not for me. I dont think it is worthy for me to sacrify my health for the trouble and suffering. I would rate it 0 if I can. Sorry for the grammar/spelling mistakes.

Customer Review: A Lot of Pain, No Gain
Summary: 1 Stars

I was intrigued by the prospects of Alli. Isn't it wonderful? Just take a pill and you will lose weight and look great! It sounds too good to be true and unfortunately upon further research, I discovered it is.
First of all, people lose very little weight. I found out that Alli is not a new product at all. It has been around for long time and sold by prescription. Then Roche sold the pattern to GlaxoSmithKline. Glaxo repackaged it, gave it a new name and started selling it as the new wonder drug Alli. This raised my first red flag. If the drug really worked, why would Roche sell the golden hen to Glaxo? I quickly found the answers right in the company brochure. It only blocks 25% of the fats!
You can achieve this only by skipping snacks or avoiding sodas! To mask the impotency of the drug Glaxo instructs to have a healthy diet and exercise. If the drug doesn't work, you do not follow the instructions! If it works, most of the benefit may be coming from your new diet and exercise any way. Very clever!
Second of all, I am really concerned about the health risks associated with the drug. In addition to the inconvenient and embarrassing well-documented side effects, I am worried that there are other long-term, more damaging risks which will start to emerge. I know that the drug was FDA approved but so was Vioxx, Ephedra and other drugs dangerous drugs. After all, this is unnatural, chemical way to lose weight. I will not be surprised if the concerns that it may cause cancer or other serious illnesses may turn to be true. I refuse to be the testing mice! I would rather go with a safer, common sense diet plan like Weight Watchers or Nutrisystem.
In summary, I found that Alli is a marketing product which plays perfectly to fast gain, no pain customers. However, after I took a careful second look I saw a lot of pain and no gain.

Customer Review: Don't be too frightened, just logical.
Summary: 4 Stars

This is the first time I've ever written a review but with all the hubbub about Alli, I thought I would weigh in.

I was slightly terrified reading some of the horror stories of the "treatment effects" some people have experienced. I have no doubt there are many people whos systems just don't react well to this. But I tried it anyway. For a week I ate a very low fat diet sticking to the directions. No effects, no cramping etc, all normal.

(I will say right now that I cannot speak to weight loss effectiveness as of yet. I haven't been working out due to the holidays; this is to the treatment effects alone.)

Then, out of sheer curiosity, I planned a meal of vastly more than 15 grams of fat, stayed close to home and waited. I have the pleasure to say that I had no immediate reactions, no cramps, no gas, no explosive anything or a need to rush to the bathroom. The following morning, I may have needed to attend to my normal "routine" a little more urgently; and the product was vastly looser and different than normal, but still not uncomfortable. And I was shocked at the orange fat bubbles in the bowl.

On a whole, I might have to make a few more trips to the bathroom throughout the day but nothing urgent and nothing unpleasant. And I have certainly not had a "leakage" as reported. Although one morning after a slip, I sat down in the bathroom and sneezed. Luckily I was on the toilet but no recurrence through the day so I can see where "leakage" could come into play. But I also have been making a concerted effort to watch what i'm eating.

I may be one of the lucky ones where Alli is helping me with my healthier lifestyle but doesn't destroy me when I slip. But with anything, you won't know unless you try it, and healthy eating is part of the whole program. Good luck.

Customer Review: Buyer Beware!!! Gave me Kidney Stones!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! As of April 2011, my physician recommended I stop taking Alli only after a few months as he believes it caused my recent kidney stones. He believes it was a link to this medicine because I have no family history of kidney stones, am active and keep very well hydrated. He says I am the second patient he has had in the past 6 months with kidney stones linked to this pill, and has told me that it recently has gone through some controversy not only with kidney problems but with liver problems and pancreas problems. So as of today I am stopping Alli, and would not recommend it to anyone!

Now, even with all the risks of kidney, liver, and pancreas problems you still are interested in taking this medicine, here is my experience with this medicine.

In January of 2011 I decided to go on a weight loss program. After a LOT of research I decided to purchase Alli to go along with my diet and exercise program. I have PCOS and thyroid issues, so it is VERY difficult for me to lose weight on diet and exercise alone, so I decided to purchase this medicine off of amazon. In two months I lost about 10 lbs, which is a great step for me in helping reach my health goal.

Besides the aforementioned kidney stones (which were REALLY painful and uncomfortable, if you have never had one! Ouch!) I had little side affects with the meds. The "treatment affects" that affect the digestive tract were not that bad for me, my only complaint would be that it made anything digestive related smell like rotten eggs which was quite embarrassing. Of course I avoided anything too greasy or fried with my diet, so that could be why I didn't have bad side affects.

Overall, even though it helped me lose some weight, with all the potential health risks, I would not recommend trying Alli.
