Customer Review: Product WORKS...Don't believe all the bad hype
Summary: 5 Stars

So, I waited a week to review this product, feeling that was plenty of time to give an honest review, and I do have to say, I don't leave reviews for products, good, bad, or otherwise.

That being said, I have to say Alli gets a 5 star review, because this stuff ACTUALLY WORKS! I was on a low cal low fat diet for a month, and lost about 2 lbs. Since having been on Alli now for a week, I've lost an additional 5lbs, which in my mind proves that it works.

Now, in regards to the dreaded treatment effects everyone complains about. Yes, they can happen. Are the horrible? Not really. I feel the "urge" to go more often, however it has never been a "OMG I have to go NOW" experience, and I have not had any accidents either, while I'm am awake or sleeping. However, if you read the books that came with it, and eat the recommended fat intake, which for me is 45g a day, 15g per meal, you don't have treatment effects. At least, I didn't. And yes, I ate OVER the recommended amount for a few days, to see what would happen. It it truly and orange, oily substance you pass, but it was not something that I needed to scrub off, and it wasn't painful either.

In regards to eating less than the recommended amount, I'be done that too. No cramping, pain, or otherwise. Just felt like I wasn't taking anything at all.

All in all, I have to say I'm a full supporter of Alli and feel it truly works.

And I do have to say, I haven't really changed my diet a whole lot either. I still eat cheese, dairy, and so on. I just count how much I have and keep it to the max limits you are supposed to.

Customer Review: It's effective... but oh, the side effects!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

If you're looking for non-surgical ways to lose weight, the best track is FEWER CALORIES & EXERCISE. Eating smaller meals is one way to reduce caloric intake. Eating the same size meals with fewer calories is another. Or, lastly, stop the food that you injest from actually being absorbed by your body.

Alli works on the principle of the latter, by blocking your body's ability to digest injested fat. And, in contrast to a lot of ads you might see on television, IT WORKS! YAY! I really have to congratulate whatever scientists actually figured out how to do this.

Ok, but here's the downside. IT WORKS. Your body doesn't digest the fat, so it just goes through the rest of your digestive tract... and causes all sorts of unpleasant side effects along the way. They're really unpleasant. Seriously. I can't begin to convey how remarkably unpleasant they actually are. No matter what you heard, you will not be prepared. I actually took prescription Orlistat when it came out a few years ago, and, after stopping due to the side effects, I was *still* not prepared when I started Alli again recently.

On the other hand, the side effects give you this great incentive to stay away from the pizza & deep fried chicken!!!

For me, I eat remarkably healthy most of the time. I try and basically eliminate the need for Alli. But every so often, I get dragged to a business/social dinner or have to travel with few healthy food options available to me. In those cases where eating poorly is totally unavoidable, it's really nice to have Alli in my pocket.

Customer Review: Skeptical
Summary: 3 Stars

I haven't tried this product yet however I want to point out that a lot of what people are basing their results on is weight lost in a one week amount of time or a one month period of time. One HUGE factor to take into consideration here is the normal fluctuation in our bodies due to simple things such as water or... seeing as how this product causes more frequent bowel movements, a lack of food being in our system when we weigh in. Water weighs approximately 8 lbs per gallon. So if you drink your medium sized water bottle your packing on 4 pounds. Do your initial weigh in full of water and a week later weigh in after passing said water and not drinking up and wow "I've lost 4 lbs". Similarly with the meal aspect, if you only use the restroom an average of once per day now you probably have an average of 3 or more meals in you at any given time. So goes to figure if your going more you will weigh less. So if your goal is just to be emptier that would probably fit the bill. But as far as burning off fat to lose the weight it could be a lot less than what the product would have you believe. I know with myself a lot of times when I try a product such as this my desire for it to work makes me overlook some of these realistic facts that need to be taken into consideration. For the record I have seen my best results with the "Abs Diet" train of though eating good and exercising 3 times a week for an hour and a half and twice a week for 30 minutes at least. Not to mention lost 40 lbs in boot camp during which I took no pills, just good old fashion exercise and good diet.

Customer Review: this had so much potencial
Summary: 3 Stars

quiet honestly, i'm very disappointed in Glaxo-Smith Kline

this is a top pharmaceutical company, who could have actually came up with something of grand significance. instead, they just made a rx med OTC- because no one was using the Rx version.

you have to buy a very expensive "medication" only to read it's instructions to say that you should be eating in a way that avoids taking the pills that you just spent $60+ on. the mentality of this medication is so backwards. you have to buy a pill because you're fat and you're buying it so you don't absorb the fat you eat, only to read the instruction that tell you NOT to eat fat in the first place which makes the pills you have absolutely useless.

and of course 97% of people who bought Alli will continue to eat fat because they just bought a pill that flushes it out, but they're not following the manufacturer's instructions- which means you have voided all your chances of saying " it doesn't work " because you never followed their instructions ( no to eat fat )

but if you do go ahead and not follow the directions, eat fat and take the pills, you will have diarrhea - so make sure you're near a bathroom or only pig out when you're at home.

and there is a typo in the instructions, they say to take a vitamin at night, but that is a erroneous thing to say, it should say to take a vitamin 2 hours either before or after taking alli. to say to take it at night, does not tell me to wait 2 hours. what if i eat at night, take alli and then take a vitamin
