Customer Reviews of Alli Weight-Loss Aid, Orlistat 60mg Capsules, 90-Count Starter PackCustomer Review: Calorie restriction that you pay for . . . Summary: 2 Stars
Alli is a weak product with a brilliant marketing strategy. In essence, Alli acts like a menacing personal trainer that threatens serious consequences if you break away from your diet. Of course, if that's what you're looking for, then I suppose Alli is for you.
Sean from LA's review exposed the math behind the product. It essentially saves you 100 calories per day and forces you to adhere to a specific diet. To put that in perspective, drinking green tea daily will rev up your metabolism ever so slightly - to the tune of an extra 80 calories per day. One hundred calories also represents about 2/3 a can of coke, a single slice of cheese (which Alli will force you to wave goodbye to) or one third of a tiny McDonald's cheeseburger. In addition, Alli won't distguish between harmful fats and heart healthy monounsaturated and omega-3 fats forcing you to miss out on a medley of benefits.
That's the brilliance of Alli's marketing strategy - you end up doing almost all the work. You have to stick to a diet, you have to count your fat calories and you have to take the pill. All Alli really has to do is shave that extra 100 calories off your total. Not only that, but with Alli, you're effectively restricted to a carbohydrate heavy diet - and the wrong kinds carbs will only increase body fat. Alli does so little, but has such embarassing side effects - wouldn't it just be easier to ditch half a cookie or a single can of Sprite a day?
Low-fat dieting is not the answer:

Customer Review: Not bad at all..12 days so far... Summary: 5 Stars
After reading alot of reviews my assumpion on this product was that you need to wear a pantyliner and watch out of oily gas. The 2 days before i started using alli, i flushed my stomach, with a liquid detox. I then started taking alli and been watching my fat intake. Yes when you use the bathroom and go you do see fat in the toilet, but it depends on how much fat u eat!
I've already been watching what i eat and taking this product just helps remove the fat that is in food i end up eating. I dont go through any uncomfortable smelly gas, nor passing gas with oily spotting. If you feel like you need to go, then use the bathroom because all it takes is 1 or two times and its all out. My reasons for taking this product is to help me loose 20 lbs. Working out while taking it really makes a difference and, ive literally dropped 2 pant sizes! Of course you need to dedicate yourself to your body, and make sure you take vitamins! I take gummy ones, and will take 2 early in the morning a few hours before i eat, and right before sleep.. Never take it with food and alli because alli might deplete you of it. Not a fact but alli does remove fat, i assume it might "flush" the vitamins out too. Anyway, its been a great experience so far, but before actually taking this product please research it for health risks. Taking this product makes you really see how bad food really is.
Customer Review: Honest Review Summary: 3 Stars
Okay im going to be openly honest and unembrassed because i think people should know. I read some other reviews and people rate it low because they have been taking it 5 days no weight loss well thats stupid i mean seriously you got to have some patience rome wasnt built in a day. I havent have any of these cramps people are talking about. But the side effects are pretty bad when you slip up. So its like this oily orange discharge that will stain your clothes like no other and it smells pretty bad. And just because you slip up once dosent mean it last that one day i sliped up on the first day and i stoped taking it and kept my meals under the limit and its still coming out. Its pretty scary i mean like some other persons review said you can never be so perpared so i wear the panty liner soaks it underneath like seriously its like having you period but its unexpected and so horrid. I mean if the thought of leaking dosent stop you from losing weight i dont know what will. Some people say they feel it when its coming on but i didn't until i went to the bathroom. but if you follow the insturctions that wont happen you know all things arent perfect and the weight loss is worth it you just have to be determinded and do it no more excuses for the "treatment effects" because there are all those itty bitty booklets to help you good luck everyone !
Customer Review: Lose while taking, gain back after stopping... Summary: 3 Stars
After having used Xenical a couple of years ago, i tried alli for several months when it first came out, and again after about a year later. I found that each time, I lost about 15 pounds (while doubling the dose to equal the prescription strength) without changing my diet. The side effects became predictable and therefore manageable, and I soon found myself eating a little more of "the good stuff (fat)" because I knew that it would be whisked away. I got tired of spending my money on alli each time, and after stopping alli, I gradually gained the weight back.
If you need a kick in the pants to cut down on fat in your diet, this may do it for you. However, if you restrict fat in your diet, you WILL loose weight without alli. If you want to continue to eat what you want and take alli, you will loose weight as long as you continue to buy the product. I think that it was a mental thing for me, knowing I could eat more and keep my weight down. From personal experience with this product, the more fat you consume, the more you will excrete. I guess I was just looking for the most bang (literally) for my buck.
Even if you follow a low fat plan and loose with alli, I just don't see how you will keep it off unless you further restrict your calories when you discontinue buying and taking the product.
Customer Review: Works for me Summary: 5 Stars
A couple of things on Alli. It works for me because it is easier for me to limit my fat/calorie intake when I'm on the plan and being held responsible. The pill reminds me that I need to pay attention and not slack off. Some people may have better discipline and probably don't need it, but for those of use that are less disciplined it's great. The weigh-in's keep me on tract. Yes, I may gain a pound one week but I'm finding it easy to take it off when I'm being held accountable.
The side effects were bad in the beginning but have tapered off since I DO limit my fat intake. Saturday is my eat anything day so of course I have the gas effects but when you stick to it, you shouldn't have much of a problem. I find it easy because I normally just go by restaurant menu for lunch and add a baked potato. Dinner is normally a weight-watchers dinner with extra vegetables. Snacks are huge salads. It is easier this way than trying to weigh everything and guestimating, which ran me into trouble.
Amazon is the best place to buy these because of the lower prices and I have yet to have a problem with the delivery.
Yes, common sense says you don't need this if you just limit your fat and calorie intake - that's a given. But for those of use who need a constant reminder, than I recommend it.
