Customer Reviews of Andis 21420 Pro-Animal Detachable Ceramic Blade Clipper KitCustomer Review: Not bad clippers for the price Summary: 4 Stars
As a former dog groomer I'm used to the Oster A5 clippers, which are great. At this time however, I wasn't prepared to pay for the Oster so I checked reviews and thought that the Andis clippers would be a good alternative. I have 2 small dogs, a terrier mix and a Heinz 57 with a very thick undercoat. The ceramic #10 blade it comes with does stay cool for much longer than the non ceramic. The blade guards it comes with, are great for the terriers thin coat and would be good for normal haircutting. For my other dog, well, the undercoat is to much for the blade guards. I have gotten through it, but it takes entirely to long. It's going to take another actual blade to do the work. Probably a #4 or #5 blade.
The clippers seem to be well made. I didn't notice them getting hot after the 1-1/2 hours of constant use. I think that they were a good choice. It'll be interesting to see how long they last. With only being used twice a month, once on the 2 dogs and once on my husband. Hopefully it'll be quite a while before I have to worry about replacing them.
Customer Review: Andis Clipper Groomer Summary: 4 Stars
Since my cat is high maintenance and needs grooming frequently I am glad I purchased this Andis 21420 Clipper Set. It is easy to use. I like the case it came in and it helps with storage. It has four combs (for different hair lengths) that are detachable and work well. This clipper runs fairly quiet and didn't upset my cat. That means a lot to me. I am pretty slow when it comes to clipping my cat and this clipper is good about not heating up for quite a while. However, I wish it was a little more powerful when it comes to wanting to zip the hair off a bit faster. It still does the job well and I have no real complaints about this product. My cat has some really thick hair, undercoat, and long to the floor. That could be part of the problem. The pricing of this product is excellent and it makes up for the power. I would purchase this product again and recommend this to friends. More colors to choose from please. Thank You for helping me keep my cat up beautiful. It does a wonderful job.
Customer Review: not overly impressed Summary: 3 Stars
Previous to this purchase, I was using a human hair clipeer on my labradoodle. It worked great for about 5 or 6 haircuts, then it jammed up. I did some research and decided on this model...seemed like it had decent reviews and a decent price. I've used it once on my dog. My first impression is that I'm not very impressed. I don't feel like it cut as cleanly as my old clipper. I went over and over the same area, but it still seemed to leave "tracks". After I was done I took the blade off, as instructed, to clean it out. It was easy to remove, but for the life of me, I couldn't get that blade back on the clipper. Frustrated, I put everything away with the blade stuck in the box. I will have to enlist a more technical helper to get the blade back on before the next cut. I will give it another try, but I'm left wondering if the cheaper brand at the big box pet stores would do just as well or better. To be continued...
Customer Review: So far so good Summary: 4 Stars
My regular groomer moved away, so I decided to invest in a pair of clippers and take matters into my own hands. I have a rescued flat coated retriever, so her hair ends up being about 3" long. It is very dense, which is wherein the problem lies for these clippers. The included blade is a size 10, which is a very short clip. The kit comes with the four plastic standard sized attachments for the blade. However, my dog's hair is so thick, that the plastic attachments really don't lift her hair to cut it. I'm now looking at getting the metal blade for 1/2" cut, which is another thirty bucks. And then I'd need the finishing blade in the same size.
Overall though, because of the problem, it takes me a long time to cut her hair. It never has any overheating issues and runs very quietly. Overall it is a well made product, just needs a further investment to bring it up to the level some users will require.
Customer Review: Not worth it (I'm returning it) Summary: 1 Stars
I recently purchased the Andis 21420 clippers from Amazon. Unfortunately, after one use I am going to return it.
None of the four supplied clipper guards stay on. They are supposed to clip on or snap into place, but they don't. Not even close to staying on. I could turn the clippers over, shake it once and it would fall off. We tried to bend one of the attachment clips to get it to stay on well enough to use. It did not work and kept falling off.
I ended up going back to my old $30 clippers from Target to finish the job.
As far as cutting power goes, there is nothing outstanding about it when compared to my old $30 clippers.
However, there are two good things about it. It has a long electrical cord and it is quiet.
I would not recomend at all. Perhaps it was a defective item, but I am returning this item immediately.
