Customer Reviews of Andis 21420 Pro-Animal Detachable Ceramic Blade Clipper Kit

Customer Review: Great Pet Shears
Summary: 5 Stars

I have two Cocker Spaniels, one of which is subject to seizures. Therefore I try to minimize anything stressful to her. She hates to go to the groomers and does not cooperate well during grooming. Amazingly, she sits still for me to use these clippers on her. Although I am not a professional at cutting her hair, it does allow me to cut the number of times she has to go quite a bit. The quiet motor is a blessing, and the snap on blades make it easy to adjust the length you want. Just be sure your dog has been combed out good when using the snap on blades.

Update, as of July 9, 2010, these shears are still going strong and have served me well. No problems, will buy same when time for replacement.

Customer Review: Good product
Summary: 5 Stars

We used this clipper set to clip our 13-pound poodle/terrier mix. His coat is exactly like a poodle. We used the #10 blade without an attachment to shave his feet and face. It does not shave down to the skin but is about 1/16 inch. Then we put the 1/8-inch attachment on and did his whole body. He looks excellent. He was covered with tangles as he was a rescue dog. Now his coat is very short for easy maintenance. It took about an hour to clip him as we are new at it, and the clipper got quite warm but still worked great. It cut through the coat very easily. All the comb attachments stayed on the clippers fine.

This is an excellent clipper set and I highly recommend it.

Customer Review: Well worth the price
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this model 7 years ago for over $100 and it is still running strong although I only use it to clip a small family dog. Nevertheless, forget the cheap vibrating 'magnetic motor' clippers - not enough power and the buzzing bothers the animal. This clipper uses a superior rotating motor that is more powerful and provides a consistent cutting action. In fact, with the right (replaceable) blade, you could use this to cut kids hair as well. It stays cool, unlike the magnetic motor design. Use with Oster Kool Lube and you will never have problems getting a clean cut. It uses blades by Oster so there is a lot of versatility possible.

Customer Review: A great clipper from Andis
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used this Andis clipper only once, but it definitely provides a good cutting experience, since I had struggled with an old Oster Model 96--just wasn't working, especially on fine poodle and bichon frise hair. It does get hot, so it's advisable not to rest it on your animal's skin, but keep it moving, otherwise cool it with spray or turn it off to cool it. It smoothly glides through the hair and its speed makes the work easier on me and the dog. The clipper came with plenty of guide combs. I did purchase an optional No. 7 blade, but haven't needed it, yet. Made in U.S.A.--something unusual.

Customer Review: Pretty good clippers
Summary: 3 Stars

These clippers did a pretty good job, considering we were new to this grooming process. We had trouble with our cocker spaniel's thick hair. The clippers just wouldn't cut properly through, and we ended up using scissors on a lot of it. Having said that, they were really great at grooming her short hair, the smaller blade, that is. She ended up looking really beautiful, and we were amazed! The clippers stayed relatively cool, weren't loud, and our cocker was OK with the whole process. For the price, a pretty good deal. We suspect we need a different a size blade for her thicker hair.
