Customer Reviews of Andis 21420 Pro-Animal Detachable Ceramic Blade Clipper KitCustomer Review: Disappointed - ceramic blade broke on first use! Summary: 3 Stars
I only received this item the other day, and was very excited to try it out on my dog, a kelpie x border collie cross. However, the ceramic blade actually broke on the first use. The clippers also got very hot after some time. Clearly something must have been wrong from the beginning that I didn't realise (although I did follow instructions, and oiled before, and during use), and I'm sure that it's not something that happens frequently, but I was extremely disappointed.
Otherwise, they seem like good clippers for at home/occasional use, and do reasonably well on thick coats.
Customer Review: Not Heavy Duty! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this Andi's clipper set at a local retailer and tried it at home on my Westie and it is NOT heavy duty. The clippers does not have enough power and I have to go over and over her coat. I was used to a Oster but was trying to save money and shouldn't have wasted my time. I cannot take it back to the retailer and Andi's won't refund my money either. They want me to send it to them so they can "fix" it. Its not broken, it just isn't what they say it is!
Don't even bother with Andi's, go straight to the Osters and pay the price because they're worth it.
Customer Review: Works well, but a little noisy Summary: 4 Stars
I have an American cocker spaniel with a skin condition that requires me to clip his hair very short and shampoo him weekly. Using the Andis clipper with the blade set it comes with is ideal to get a close cut. I haven't used any of the snap-on comb attachments. I like that the blade is detachable so that I can clean out hair accumulation. Based upon reviews I read, I expected the clipper to operate quietly; however, I am disappointed that the motor is noisier than a cheaper Wahl clipper I previously used. Maybe it's noisier because the motor is more powerful?
Customer Review: Great on Toy Poodle/ Bad for Bichon- Poo! Summary: 4 Stars
These clippers go through my Toy Poodle's hair SOOO easy. Love it. When it came to my Toy poodle- Bichon mix dog, they barely work at all. This dog has very fuzzy, thick hair. So if you have a bichon, I would not recommend them. They work a little, but scissors are actually easier. Yes, the clippers do get hot, but that is normal. I use it with a guard, so that keeps the hot metal away from doggies skin. One word of caution- make sure you keep the plastic guards out of the doggies reach. My naughty dog chewed one up when I was working on the other dog!
Customer Review: A FREQUENT CLIPPER USER Summary: 5 Stars
I RECENTLY ADOPTED A SHIH TZU AND REALIZED SHE NEEDS FREQUENT HAIRCUTS TO STAY NEAT AND AVOID TANGLES. THE ANDIS PRO PET 21420 CLIPPER DOES A VERY GOOD JOB. AFTER SOME TRIAL AND ERROR, I FOUND IT WORKS BEST ON HER WITHOUT THE ATTACHMENTS. THE CLIPPER DOES NOT BECOME HOT AND IS PRETTY QUIET, SO SHE IS NOT STARTLED.SINCE I HAVE TWO OTHER DOGS, PLUS CATS AND BIRDS, TO TAKE THIS PUP TO A GROOMER MONTHLY IS TOO EXPENSIVE. I CAN GIVE HER A BATH AT HOME AND THE CLIPPER GIVES HER A NICE HAIRCUT SO IT HAS PAID FOR ITSELF ALREADY.
