Customer Review: Successfully using these clippers on my Persian cat
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these clippers to use on my Persian-Chinchilla cat. She is a long-haired beauty, but gets matted very easily. I tried taking her to a professional groomers to be groomed, but they ran after me in the parking lot right after I dropped her off because they said she was too frantic to sit still!

So, I thought, ok, I will enlist my husband's help and trim her myself. We are SO not cat groomers by any means. We used a pretty short blade on her and it worked wonderfully. It took the two of us to hold her down but in the end she got a beautiful trim.

I noticed the clippers get a little hot after awhile, only on the on/off button where you hold it with your hand. But in all fairness, I think we took an hour to trim our cat so maybe we overused the clippers past their normal timeframe. I'm happy we got these clippers and now our Persian cat can look trim all the time.

Customer Review: Mid price / Mid performance
Summary: 3 Stars

To be fair, this product was an upgrade from the even "cheaper" clippers I've tried. This unit worked well at first, but the blade wears quickly and refuses to cut the hair on my toy poodle after one or two uses. My "toy" has very fine thick hair and it just clogs the blade (then pulls) and then gets hot. The hair on my miniature poodle is slightly more coarse and is not such a challenge. The kit comes with an extra blade and this works when new, but perfomance degrades fast. Apparently the blades are not available (at least not by application) for replacement. (Note:I didn't try blades that are not specified for this unit.)
For the price, it's not a bad unit. i'm sure that for some it will work just fine. I will be spending some more money on a higher quality clipper that also has replacement blades readily available.

Customer Review: Andis 23840 pet clippers
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought these for my Persians since their hair mats continuously if I don't brush them every day. Anyway, recieved them, tried them and was completely disappointed in them. It took me four and a half hours to shave my cat with these. The reason being is because you have to go very slow while clipping in order for them to work. My cat lost patients with me and I did the clippers. Continuous cleaning while usuing them (which is to be expected) but they got real hot in the process, so had to shut them off and on during the grooming. Needless to say I sent them back. I would only recommend these to someone who has pets with very short hair. Not for long haired pets, thats for sure. I believe they would burn out in no time.

Customer Review: Excellent tool for novice groomer!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this clipper for our young Shihtzu/Bichon. I had very little grooming experience, but for the price of one professional grooming, I thought I'd take a chance on purchasing this product to give it a try for myself. The clipper trimmed her fluffy hair effortlessly. It does get warm after a few minutes, so it would definitely be best to start with the belly/paws where you need to cut without the combs. The warmth isn't a problem when you're trimming with the combs, so I didn't have to break to allow the trimmer to cool. I would recommend this product--overall, and excellent value if you're willing to spend the time and clean up the mess from your home grooming experience.

Customer Review: Won't cut my shih tzu's hair
Summary: 1 Stars

I didn't know better so I bought the cheapest kit I could find figuring what difference did it make because I wasn't a professional. Well these clippers don't cut my shih tzus hair. I have to press really hard to get it to cut, the plastic combs are useless as well. She ended up looking awful because I had to press so hard to get a little bit off. I ended up having to spend $109 to buy the Andis Professional Animal Clipper. That's much better and I'm able to cut my dog's hair without a problem. It cost almost $100 to get a dog groomed in NYC, plus all the time it takes to pick up and drop them off as well. It makes much more sense to just give your dog a haircut after you bathe it.
