I think this is the best design on the market. After cutting the pill, I pour it into the compartment and eventually pour all the cut pills into a cup. My color was see-through with an orange tint. I will probably buy another one soon, just in case they stop making this model. This does not seem to have any plastic outgassing issue. This has no rubber, so pills slide nicely into the compartment.
There are some pill cutters that have rubber bottoms to make pills less likely to slide - I tried that type, but it smelled like rubber and had an extra large gap in back (messy and harder to clean) - I think it was the Apex Ultra Pill Splitter - I just didn't like that model.
