Customer Reviews of Apothecary Products Flents Quiet Please Foam Ear Plugs 50-PairCustomer Review: Not comfortable and not effective! Summary: 2 Stars
When my landlords decided they were going to "remodel" the unit above us, I knew I has going to need ear plugs if I was going to get any sleep. And boy was I right.
Because I wanted something quickly, I bought some Howard Leight LPF-1's from my local sporting goods store, and when I ran out of those, I bought the Flents Quiet Please ones here on Amazon.
I could not be MORE disappointed.
These things are garbage! They're short, which makes them hard to insert and take out of the ear canal. They're hard and angular which makes them uncomfortable in the ear canal. They expand too much in the ear, which created pressure in my ears that I couldn't stand. And they didn't block out noise very well. I should make the caveat though that it is possible that the seal on my canister wasn't totally sealed, so the ear plugs in the container dried out. But that means once you open the can, you have to use them before they dry out???
If I were you, I'd stay clear of these, and instead buy the Howard Leight LPF-1 Uncrded 200/box Amazon sells. You get way more, and these ear plugs are a DREAM to use. They soft, easy to put in and take out, and block much more sound. Plus they expand more quickly in your ear so the sound gets blocked more quickly, but they don't create pressure in your ear canal so they're a dream to wear for long periods of time, like if you need them to sleep. And also great, they don't dry out because each pair is individually sealed!
I'm returning these ear plugs and will never use Flents again.
Customer Review: Earplug Primer Summary: 2 Stars
Flents Quiet Please:
-They look the best (they are almost a white, which makes them look clean and non-offensive, as some reasonably think others earplugs are gross)
-They are a plug shape which is basically the same shape as the bell
-They are very comfortable (although the material is kinda odd and feels like it would cause friction it is somehow fine)
-They do a fairly mediocre to poor job of blocking sound
Hearos:
-They look reasonably good
-I like the bell shaped ear plugs over the T-shaped ones
-They are NOT comfortable for repeated long term wearing (possibly just in those w/ sensitive ears / small ear canals, but for whatever reason I'm one)
-They do a very good job of blocking sound
Howard Leight Max Lite:
-They look the worst (they are green as they are industrial use designed)
-They are T-shaped, which I don't like and I find myself cutting the T end off at times
-They are very comfortable
-They do a very good job of blocking sound
So as is always the case, each one has some tradeoffs depending on what is important to you. Personally I've tried them all for extended periods and the Max Lite is the winner in my book as comfort and sound blocking I rate as the most important categories, I'd love if it looked better. If you don't need as much sound blocking (Flents) or have ears that don't get bothered by larger sized / pressure ear plugs (Hearos) those might be the choices for you.
Customer Review: not as comfortable since quality changed Summary: 3 Stars
I've been using these 29 DB Quiet Please earplugs for years, so I finally bought them in a large quantity (50 pairs). Sadly, this big plastic jar of earplugs contains a different quality product than what I was used to. They're a harder foam and slightly bigger than the ones I'd bought in small sets in stores in the past. They hurt my ears, especially when I'm sleeping on my side and it gets pressed further into my ear. Also, the crackly noise they normally make when they're first expanding in your ear canal doesn't always go away. They make that noise randomly at other times, too.
Another reviewer complained of these same problems, but I disagree with someone who said they're not effective. They do block outside noise very well. I live in a noisy apartment building in New York City, and these are the reason I can get some rest. I might have to experiment with other kinds, though, if this new hard foam and large size is the standard for this brand now. I found another kind that's for women's smaller ears and made of a softer foam.
Customer Review: 50pr pks quantity vs quality? Summary: 5 Stars
I too noticed a difference in the 50pr pks vs the 10pr pks, but the at $4.49/10pr I'm willing to make the sacrifice! As for being able to use them more than once, I have a flat plastic box (but even a plastic bag will do) that I put multiple pairs in, and keep under the blankets on my bed. (one being a heat blanket) Warming them up, or keeping them warm, allows them to expand back to their original size/shape, even after multiple uses. Once warm, the earplugs are softer, which then makes it easier to roll and insert. I've also found that when warm, they expand better once in the ear canal, which makes for even more noise reduction. I agree that moistening the ear canal before inserting the earplugs is a good suggestion, but instead of putting in water drops, just lick your finger and stick it in your ear! I'm not kidding. It moistens the ear canal, and your finger widens the opening for the earplug. It may sound gross but hey, it's your own finger and your own ear!
Customer Review: If I could give more than five stars, I would. Summary: 5 Stars
These earplugs are absolutely AMAZING. I am a college senior and I share an apartment with three other people. My house mate that lives on the same side of the apartment as me is always loud and slamming doors shut. I ordered these earplugs based on the high recommendations by others and I'm so glad I did. I put them in and when she slams the doors it just sounds like a minor tap. My only complaint is that I didn't find these sooner. I've tried the blue Hearos earplugs and to me these are much better. The are very easy to insert and very comfortable. Although the NRR on the Hearos is slightly higher (I think its around 33), these seem to block the noise much better. So if you're tired of being sleep deprived or just want some peace and quiet to read or relax, I highly recommend these earplugs.
