Customer Review: Love
Summary: 5 Stars

Mmm, I love these shakes. The dark chocolate ones are great, too. At the grocery store near me they come out to about $1.49 per can, a pretty bad price for something I want to drink once or twice a day! Here on Amazon with the current price at the time of this review ($16.30/12) it comes to $1.35 a can, and $1.15 per can if you use the subscribe & save discount! That sounds much better to me! :)

I am glad I tried these out, I don't enjoy artificially sweetened snacks and will sometimes just cheat a little if I am having a craving, but these definitely satisfy that craving! They are not super sweet or anything, but the chocolateyness is what does it for me. These are also great for me to drink in the morning. I am NEVER hungry for the first couple of hours that I am awake so I usually just drink some water and skip breakfast, and I know that's not good for you. I've been feeling better being able to drink these when I wake up so I've at least got some nice protein and vitamins in me rather than nothing at all! :)

Customer Review: A Mixed Blessing.
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this product in an effort to find a cheaper replacement for Slimfast. I think what surprised me the most was the products packaging. Instead of the customary cans, this product comes in a "Milk box" type container. This makes it harder to open by requiring a straw or other pointed instrument. I do however applaud the Atkins folks for using landfill friendly packaging. I just wish they were easier to open.

The product itself tastes kind of chalky and is thick so you almost need a glass of water chaser to prevent that after taste lingering for a bit. Nutrient wise the Atkins product has less overall calories but more calories from fat 90 per serving vs 50 in the slimfast. The Slimfast product also has more % daily vitamins.

Overall not a horrid product and if you are on the Atkins plan I would think it would be more balanced. But if you are just looking for a diet drink, there are others out there that will do the job just as well if not better.

Customer Review: Nice tasting, lost 40lbs using these in a diet
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a milk-protein based shake that provides 15g of protein, 1g sugar and 9g fat. It's sweetened with an artificial sweetener -- deliciously so, although I was concerned at first since artificial sweeteners normally work against a diet (I'm no longer concerned, it's done well for me). There's about ton of vitamins packed in to make sure you still get the nutrition you need in a meal-replacement shake such as this.

I started casually drinking a few different flavors of Atkins shakes almost a year ago. At the start, it helped helped to level off (but not reduce) my weight. When I got serious about it, I acquired a mini-fridge for my office 5 months ago (from a friend for $75), and then started drinking ice-cold shakes 3 or so times a day -- then have a reasonable dinner at the end of the day. That, plus some help keeping my rest metabolism up, has done wonders.

Customer Review: LOVE these...great for breakfast
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using these in place of breakfast on my "own" vegetarian low-carb diet (I don't necessarily follow Atkin's or any other diet, I just kind of make my own judgement calls -- lost 20 lbs. in the past 2 months and am 5-10 lbs. away from my goal). These are SO good and remind me of melted chocolate ice cream! I never had the ones in the cans so I can't compare, but I think these are delicious and I can't live without them! I alternate between these and the vanilla shakes, but the chocolate is my favorite.
Another Atkin's goodie: Caramel Double Chocolate Fudge Bar. Who needs "real" junk food when you have this stuff?! =) More than enough to satisfy my chocolate and sweet cravings. It helps if you don't eat other things that have real sugar, because your taste buds will adjust to these and they will get better and better. Now, since I have been strict, if I do sneak a bite of "real" chocolate or something else very sugary, it doesn't taste good at all.

Customer Review: What were they thinking?
Summary: 1 Stars

I don't mind them redesigning the container, but why did they reformulate the contents? The old Atkins shakes had a taste and texture that was creamy and deliciously decadent, and satisfied me for several hours. The new formula has less calories and more carbs (doesn't that go against the Atkins principals?) and is watery, flavorless, and I'm hungry again in less than an hour. Being a previously devoted Atkins shake fan, I hate to say this, but Slimfast Low Carb shakes now taste better than the new Atkins shakes. Atkins cost more than Slimfast Low Carb, but they used to be worth it! I do have a hint though, if you add a couple of servings of half-and-half (the kind that are for adding to coffee) to the shake, it helps create a creamier shake that is a bit more satisfying. But why should I have to? Why did they think they had to fix something that wasn't broken?
