Customer Review: Pretty accurate and consistant

I bought this thermometer and the Vicks basal thermometer and tested them both. I took 3 temperatures with the Vicks thermometer and 3 temperatures with the BD thermometer. The BD thermometer had all 97.5's and the Vicks thermometer fluctuated by .2 degrees on all three temps. I tested them again by taking 3 more temps with each thermometer and the BD was still consistent with two temps reading 97.5 and one reading 97.3 and the Vicks was still fluctuating by .2-.5 degrees on all readings. I didn't realize that this thermometer was also a 1/10th reading and the Vicks thermometer is a 1/100th reading. I read in one of the learning books for NFP that the 1/10th one is the best one to use since you should be recording your temps that way, and since the BD seems more consistant I will just use this one.Customer Review: Good Basal Digital Thermometer

First of all, as far as I can tell, there is no real difference between the way a basal thermometer and a regular thermometer work. The main difference is that, because you use a basal thermometer first thing in the morning before you get out of bed, it has features so that you can use it in the dark. This thermometer beeps every 4 seconds for one minute as long as you have it in the right location. My only complaint is that the beeping bothers my husband, because I wake up before he does. I wrap the thermometer in a towel to muffle the beeping and that seems to do the trick. Other than that, the product works as expected. I like that it has a memory so that I don't have to record the temperature right away, although it only remembers the last temperature taken.Customer Review: Very disappointed

I was very much looking forward to receiving this thermometer. Instead, I'm very disappointed. 1: Mine arrived with a low battery. Within two days I had to replace the battery. Perhaps a fluke, but annoying nonetheless. 2: The beeps are VERY loud. I did cover the speaker with my thumb, wrapped a blanket around it, and my husband still complained. This was especially annoying because, due to the low battery issue, I couldn't even get it to begin taking my temperature so it was just the powering on beep - long and high pitched. 3: I replaced the battery this morning and it still doesn't work as the directions say it should. I purchased a different thermometer.
The one positive is the back light.

I find the thermometer accurate and the backlight and memory are great. However, the beeping is just too much. It beeps an absurd amount--every four seconds. This thermometer seems to be targeted to women who are trying to conceive. If someone is old enough to have a baby, then they are old enough to know how to take their temperature. I really don't need confirmation that the thermometer is actually under my tongue. I have to hold the entire thing in my fist and go under the covers in an effort to not wake my husband. The only reason I gave it as many as three stars is because of the backlight--somehow no one else has thought to do this, which boggles my mind. And it's the only reason I am still using it.Customer Review: Frustrating basal thermometer

This thermometer does not seem to be well made. Although it is supposed to beep regularly until the triple beep at the end, many times it does not do so (either the regular beeping or the triple beep), so you have no idea if it is working. When it does beep, it makes a sound like it is shorting out. The beep is also extremely loud (when it does work) - loud enough to wake up my husband, who has no problem sleeping through the baby's cries. As another reviewer mentioned, the light display can be frustrating as well and it's easy to lose the temperature if you don't write it down the first time you check it. I would not buy this product again or recommend it to others in search of a reliable bbt.
