I have several different bbt thermometers. This is my favorite, because of the backlight. It is true that the backlight goes off after you initially turn it on, but when your temperature reading is complete you just press the button again and the backlight turns back on and shows the reading. I also like that you hear the beeps to tell you this thermometer is working. On my other ones if too much time would go by I would have to check to make sure it was really working and that meant turning on a light and then doing it all over again, which would make the reading inaccurate, since you had to get up and turn on a light to see the thermometer. The light is great and the thermometer works great.Customer Review: Got the job done

I used this to track my temps this past month, my second month TTC. I tested vaginally at 8:00 a.m. and got very consistent results. The temperature shifts were easy to detect--yes, a tenth of a degree is better than a hundredth--and I was able to confirm ovulation easily (I used ovulation strips to detect my surge a few days earlier). I'm pregnant now, so I have no complaints.
Vaginal temping takes a bit of practice, as sometimes you can't hear the beeps well, and you might have to reposition the thermometer to get an accurate temp, but it's easy to pick up and worked better for me since I'm a mouth breather and have inconsistent oral temps.

I use Billings method NFP, but also temp to confirm ovulation as my signs can be confusing at times. I was using a store-brand digital thermometer when I first started charting, and kept wondering why my temps were always so low. THEN, I lost that piece of junk and bought the BD. It is way faster and more accurate - and I have no problems now. I like the bright backlight and the "beeps." Only thing is, the beeps may be loud enough to disturb a sleeping spouse. Just something to keep in mind if your husband is a light sleeper! I also wish the backlight would stay on while the thermometer is taking your temperature.Customer Review: Exactly what I needed

I love this thermometer. The back light and last temp recall have been a life saver for me. When I want to sleep in I can reach over shove it in my mouth for 1 minute drop it back on the night stand and go back to sleep. When I am ready to wake and write my temp down I can simply push the button and voila theres my temp. This is also the thermometer that is reccomended in the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I definatly reccomend that book as well. The only drawback is that beeps lightly every 3 seconds for 1 minute to let you know it is working which drives my husband nuts.Customer Review: Can't stand the incessant beeping!

This thermometer has a feature called "accubeep." It beeps loudly every 4 seconds during the minute or so that it takes to take your temperature. According to the manufacturer, this is supposed to assure you that the thermometer is correctly positioned in your mouth. At 6am, this is horribly annoying. Plus, being a basal thermometer, it is obviously intended for adult use, on a daily basis, I might add. What adult who takes her temperature every day would need help figuring out how to put the thermometer in her mouth? I had to stop using the thing, it was just too annoying.
