This thermometer is great. It's good for beginners who are new to charting BBT because it's so easy to use. It works fast and beeps every few seconds to let you know it's working correctly. Your mate might not like that first thing in the morning, but they'll get used to it (and they better because when baby comes along it will be more than a little beep waking them up). The best feature about this thermometer is that it stores the reading for you so you don't have to write it down right away and you can just go back to sleep and chart your temperature for the day later on.Customer Review: This is NOT a basal thermometer.

A basal body thermometer is a thermometer that goes into the hundreds because of the very minor shifts in the body. It needs to be able to track those tiny changes. This one doesn't. I am so angry that I spent my money on something that is listed to do a job that it simply can't do. Yes, the beeps are nice, as is the backlighting but without giving a proper tempurature it's useless. I'll be using this as our family thermometer since I can't return it as I've already used it! (ex. It gives a reading of 97.6 instead of 97.62. HUGE difference when talking about basal temps.)Customer Review: can't rate the item because a generic was received

I ordered the BD Basil thermometer because I have heard that they are pretty accurate, but instead received a generic theremometer which I could have bought anywhere. I was pretty upset and sent 2 emails to the vendor about returning the thing and asked why I received a generic, but the vendor never responded. It seems like I have been holding on to this thing for months waiting to be returned. Amazon was nice enough to give me a credit for it but the vendor never gave me return instructions.
In my opinion, I would not order from American Drug Supply store...

I like that this thermometer beeps to tell me it is reading my temp correctly. The display is big enough to read with bleary early morning eyes. It is as accurate as my glass thermometer. If you press the on/off button after taking your temp the display lights up again before switching off so that you can read your temp in the dark and it is retained in the memory. If you need to check your temp later to chart it you can switch the thermometer back on, read the temp, and switch it back off so that it will still be retained in the memory. No complaints here!Customer Review: Does the job.

After trying for months with regular thermometers to take my waking temperature every day, I could finally complete my first month of taking my temperature without fail, every single day, thanks to this thermometer. Its accuracy and convenience motivated me to follow through with charting. Saving the temp for you to read when fully awake is a plus - subtly I think it helped keep me on track with taking the temp before fully waking up. (Earlier I was always forgetting and getting all the way up.) At $10, the price was reasonable, I would recommend.
