First, understand that it typically takes about 24 hours from the time that food enters your mouth until it comes out as excrement. In other terms, what you eat for dinner today will be tomorrow evening's gas. Knowing this is important as it helps to gauge the effectiveness of these pills.
Anyway, I've tried chewing them, swallowing them whole, and taken anywhere from two to four at a time, but I still end up with gas. The method of these pills is simple, it's an enzyme that breaks down the complex sugars present in foods like beans into simpler sugars that your body can digest. Any complex sugars that remain will eventually pass into the large intestine, where they will be consumed by the colonies of bacteria that live there, and subsequently turned into gas.
I do feel that these pills have reduced the quantity of gas that I otherwise would have had, but it would be really nice if they worked 100%. I'm still trying different methods to see if I can improve their efficacy. Perhaps I need to continually take them as I eat. Perhaps I received a bad batch. Who knows...
