I am now through my second pregnancy and I am happy to say that once again I have no stretch marks! This time around my son was 10 days late, a pound heavier than my daughter and I carried him all in front so once again I was thinking there would be a good chance I would end up with them but I was pleasantly surprised. I would still recommend this to anyone. Also I only used two containers for the entire pregnancy starting in my second month.
I used this from the end of my first trimester on in my first pregnancy and I am happy to report that I am back for more (on my second pregnancy) because I had no stretch marks at all, and my daughter was 9 days late even! I bought it because I was determined to at least TRY to avoid them. I was certain I would get them during pregnancy because despite being thin I ended up with quite a few in high school growth spurts and seemed very prone to them.
PROS
1. This was the only product I could stand the smell of when I was experiencing 1st tri nausea, it's a very mild scent.
2. Even at the end of the day my skin still feels like it is being protected... not dry or itchy.
3. Of course the obvious one, I experienced no stretch marks.
CONS
1. Yes it is a bit pricey but it's well worth it. I don't think I had to buy more than 3 the first time around. I have been using it now for all of Feb and it's around 1/4 gone.
I have read other reviews regarding the consistency of this product and the fact that some people still got stretch marks and just wanted to add a couple of comments.
I use this very sparingly... I find that even a very light layer seems to do the trick and I let it sit for a few minutes before dressing. I never had any stains on my clothes doing it this way and my skin never felt "goopy" or wet.
I tried very hard to stick to the recommended pregnancy weight gain (1 lb/week for most of the pregnancy.) I had a few 2 pound weeks but I suspect that had I had a 5 pound week near the end I may have ended up with marks... there is just only so much a body can handle. So perhaps it was my diligence on weight gain that got me through but I won't be taking any chances the second time around.
