Let me preface my review with a little background: I have worked in the vitamin and nutritional supplement industry for about 15 years. I exercise regularly, and have tried countless protein and meal replacement shakes. Believe me when I tell you, I have experience on this topic.
I tried this shake based mainly on my knowledge of Bill Phillips, as he a known and reputable person from his days with EAS. What's on the label is what's in the product, and you can expect a decent tasting shake. I bought the vanilla and chocolate, as it was part of a 50% off sale. Having never tried these shakes before, I was expecting something similar to Myoplex Lite when it came to taste. I could not have been more wrong. These shakes are horrible, vanilla or chocolate. Everyone has their own palate, I suppose, but I have no idea how anyone could call these delicious.
On the positive side, the ingredients that are in here are solid, with a good amount of vitamins. They also mix nicely in a shaker cup, so you don't need a blender. Very convenient if you are a student or at work, because you can just add water, shake it up, and slam it down. Trust me, you will want to slam this shake down... no need to "savor the flavor." I will finish what I ordered, but I will never purchase these again. For the first time, I am truly disappointed in one of Bill Phillips' products.
For those of you looking for shakes that actually taste good, I would suggest something like Myoplex, Myoplex Lite, MetRx, or Muscle Milk. Those all taste pretty good, and mix relatively easily without a blender. They are a little more expensive, but if it doesn't taste good, how likely are you to drink them?
