Customer Reviews of BioBrite Sunrise Clock Advanced Model with White Noise, Pearl

Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted
Summary: 5 Stars

I originally bought this product because one of my friends got it for Christmas and loved it. I am not a morning person at all, especially in the winter when the sun isn't rising until about 8:00am. This light really helps me to naturally wake up when my body is ready. I first had the light fade up over 30 minutes but changed it to 60 minutes, as 30 wasn't enough to wake me up before the alarm went off. I now know that on a 60 minute fade up, I wake up ten minutes before the alarm will go off, so I set the clock accordingly. Something that buyers should understand is that this clock will not cure lack of sleep. Only sleep will cure a lack of sleep. Instead, this clock allows for a peaceful transition from sleeping to being awake.

Like many others have mentioned, the instructions aren't great. The clock is more simple to program than the instructions make it to be.

As far as the functions are concerned, I love the fade down option that the light offers. It really does simulate a sunset. I can honestly feel myself relax and get sleepy as the light fades down to darkness. Although I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, I like the security function. The function sets the clock so that the clock will randomly turn on and off during the night so that potential intruders think someone is home. The only downside to the security light is that you cannot set the hours that you want it to turn on and off. The white noise function is also nice, although for me it took some getting used to. The sound isn't all that natural and sounds like static. The nice thing about the white noise is that you can set it to either fade out with the light or you can set it to stay on all night.

Overall, I love this light. Instead of having a lamp and a clock next to my bed, I now have a clock and light in one. It takes up much less room. I do agree that this light is pretty expensive, but if it lasts, it will be worth the money. I would highly recommend this to people who suffer from winter depression and have to get up early. It has definitely helped me.

Customer Review: Good alarm Clock, but doesn't do the Job
Summary: 3 Stars

It is next to impossible for me to wake up in the morning. Seriously-- I'm not just saying that. I have been known to sleep 18 hours a day when I don't have anything going on.

Every night, I go to bed thinking that next morning, I'll wake up ready to face the day, but that NEVER happens. Every morning-- EVERY morning, I have the same battle. I turn the alarm off and go back to sleep, only to wake up 20 minutes before I have to leave for work. I'm angry, I'm late, I'm frantic... did I mention I am REALLY angry?

I knew a regular alarm doesn't do the trick, I knew two alarms don't work... I tried setting them across the room... I've tried it all and combinations of it all. I finally went in search of something new.

This is the first alarm that I tried based on the positive reviews. It's a cute alarm. I had no problems putting it together and getting everything set. I also think it's a nice quality product.

I was anxious to try it out, but disappointed that once again this didn't work for me. I slept right through the 'sunrise' and instantly turned off the 'beep-beep-beep' alarm-- just like I do with every alarm-- and went right back to sleep. I've had this alarm for two weeks now and I've never once been awoken by the 'sunrise', which shouldn't really surprise me since I can sleep like a baby at any time of the day, including in the peak of sunshine-time.

It's just like any other alarm that beeps in the morning; however, I really like the 'sun-down' simulator. I have used this a few times and it's very relaxing. I've also used this as a lamp, which is sort of nice 'cus you can have the lamp and alarm in one, instead of clogging up a night stand with both products.

All in all, this is a nice alarm clock and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't have issues with waking up. It's more pleasant than the normal blaring alarm. This alarm will not work if you struggle as much as I do about actually having to crawl out of bed.

Customer Review: Great wake-up alternative, if a overly expensive and slightly flawed device
Summary: 4 Stars

It is abit overpriced but I cannot deny its quality. Very easily assembled, with a sleek new age techno look. The glass half globe is pretty thick and looks durable but its still glass. It is a breeze to program ( assuming you read the instruction book) but the simplistic menu takes awhile to scroll through, not a big deal considering you really only need to program it all once.
It has a clock which can be switched to military time. A programable alarm time. A sundown feature in addition to sunup and you can program how long the sunup and sundown times are (individually). It has a security feature that has it randomly light up at night so it looks like someone is home while your on vacation. The light can be turned on independently so you can use it as a night light. And this model has a "white noise" feature that sounds like radio static to help you sleep, and it can be turned on and off. And it has a backup beep if the light doesnt wake you.
It isnt perfect. I wish the light got alittle brighter, I would really like to be blinded at maximum illumination, but it is pretty good. Perhaps in the future I can find a stronger bulb that fits. Also the white noise isnt smooth enough to help me relax. That being said it works well for me and I'm happy I bought it. Even in a sunny room ( my apartment shades are crap), the light is enough to wake me up slowly and naturally ( AS LONG AS I"M NOT DEAD TIRED), and if it fails theres always the backup beep. And the sundown feature is really great for helping me to fall asleep. Just make sure to put it as close to your bed as possible.
In closing if you can handle the price tag and your not a very heavy sleeper and your sick of being rudely awakened by a blaring alarm...buy this product now.

Customer Review: fantastic as long as it works!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this about 3 months ago. I've never been a morning person, plus I have a severe sleeping disorder and very severe depression, so I would never get up in the mornings! My psychiatrist recommended this clock because not only would the full-spectrum "SAD" light help with the depression (I don't have SAD, but she'd had patients for whom light therapy had worked) but also because of the sleeping disorder.
This is AMAZING!!! I was soon finding myself waking up to an almost-fully-lit globe, a few minutes before the alarm went off! My only complaint is that I wish it's beeper wasn't so loud!
This weekend, it broke. I can make the light go on and off fine, the sundown feature works, but it no longer does the sunrise or beeps...essentially, it seems to have stopped detecting that I've got the alarm clock set for a certain time (though it DOES know the alarm is set since the other features work!!!) The customer service tech said things can happen during a power surge...and, admittedly, I had tripped over some power cords in my room and noticed the alarm clock flash on and off several times as its plug wobbled loosely in the socket...the fact that he told me something that I knew to be true raised my confidence in the company. He told me to attempt several hard resets until it worked, one every half-hour. It didn't work. They are now repairing it for me free-of-charge. I've noticed in the past couple of mornings that I'm much more tired!!
The bottom line: the concept is AMAZING, the company provides excellent customer service and goes out of their way to ensure customer satisfaction, and the product almost always delivers. Had it not broken, I'd want to give it 6 stars! Never have I been so happy with a product that's broken on me! :P

Customer Review: I had high hopes for this puppy
Summary: 2 Stars

I was really excited to get this clock, as I have a difficult time getting up in the morning, especially in winter. However, I can't say that I have received any benefit from it, which reduces this product to one damn expensive regular alarm clock.

I tend to sleep on my side, and the first two nights I used the clock, I happened to be facing away from it as I was waking up, completely defeating the whole idea of waking up slowly. So I woke up to the sound of the alarm, and turned around to face a blinding light of the clock. I tried putting the clock higher up to diffuse the light, but it shines up rather than down, so that was even worse. Even when I do face the clock in the morning, I can't say that it causes me to be more awake by the time the sound of the alarm goes off. With my eyes closed, I hardly perceive any difference in light. Again, once the alarm goes off, I open my eyes to face an unpleasant light shining in my eyes. I think that there is a way to turn down the intensity of the light, but I feel like that was the whole purpose I bought it, so I don't want to turn it down!

As far as the alarm clock itself, I'm not sure how hard it is for alarm clock designers to figure out that the snooze button should be big and placed front and center, so that a person can hit it easily, and doesn't need to paw around to figure out which of the three buttons on the side is actually the snooze. I mean, you don't need to be a brain surgeon to figure that out. The other strange part of the interface is that you push a button out instead of in to turn on the alarm.

In summary, I am quite sad (or should I say SADD) to give this clock a low rating.
