Customer Review: Nice alternative to Restasis

I've used the prescription drops Restasis for about 2 years. Those work well, but my insurance company recently decided to no longer pay for them. (They were $50 anyway with co-pay; now they're well over $100.) My prescription was running out, so I decided to look for alternatives. (I had also read that Restasis is made by the Botox people. I haven't verified that. But I do know that Restasis is a steroid and, from what my eye doctor told me, the treatment for dry eyes is somewhat of a secondary benefit. To me, prescribing them for dry eyes alone is questionable.)
My eye doctor had suggested Systane Ultra, but they didn't work all that well for me. And I had literally tried every eye drop I'd found on the shelves. But last night I found Bion Tears and decided to give them a try. I was impressed. They provided a smoother coating and blinking for me than the Restasis, and my eyes felt better than with Restasis.
Now, I haven't been diagnosed with anything more severe than "dry eye," and I cannot say that someone who is specifically required to use Restasis should switch to this. For me, Restasis was strictly optional. So if you fit into that category, you might give these a try. I find that I need to use them about 3 times a day (as compared with twice a day with Restasis), but I think they still come in cheaper or at least no more expensive than Restasis.
