my baby got mild diaper rash at the hospital, we were stuck there for a week, the nurses used zinc oxide ointment to treat it. my husband bought some before we left the hospital because we didn't know we'd be able to take the stuff from the hospital home with us. he bought A+D with zinc oxide in it. we used the stuff from the hospital for a few days then put that tube in our diaper bag since it was small and began to use the A+D. within 3 days the diaper rash got out of control and was all over my daughter's bum, getting scaly and pimply with each diaper change. i remember using this on a kiddo at a daycare center i briefly worked at and decided to use it. we were lucky to find it on clearance at target for only half the price! and my god, within JUST ONE diaper change, the redness had reduced dramatically. by the next day it was almost all gone. by day 2 it was gone. this stuff is amazing! it's been almost a month since we've had it. we use it either every few days as needed and only about 1/4 of the tub has been consumed. i don't know what people are talking about with the smell, it's not bad at all. in fact, my husband who is from ireland, says it smells like chocolate yogurt he used to eat back home and every time he applies it he's tempted to scoop some into his mouth.
in my mind there are NO CONS to this stuff. buy it. use it. no need to abuse it.
