Customer Review: Hurts SO good!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Ouch, ouch, double ouch....

I have to admit, I was really not prepared for just how painful this thing would be. I'm a shaver/waxer/cream hair removal kinda girl. And it drives me nuts. Because it's an everyday affair that gets tedious, expensive and downright annoying.

So when I popped this thing out of the box after it arrived(and I had been dancing on pins and needles for it to get here as part of my New Year's Resolution to be a happier me), I was quick to read the instructions and then plug her in for a test drive. Now, I had been avoiding shaving for a few days to get some good growth, as it was my understanding that these things work better with a slightly longer hair. But I finally gave in and had shaved just a couple days ago during my agonizing wait, as I could no longer handle the bristles on my legs.

First contact with skin was indescribable. I've had two c-sections and had babies latch on to my breasts. I thought that hurt. Thought. I was wrong. THIS is pain. This thing literally RIPS the hair out of its happy socket. It drew blood on me several times!!! And I had to stop (because I was doing the wussy dance so much) multiple times and try a different area.

Now having said all that, you would think I would hate the thing and ship it back to Amazon faster than a long-tailed cat escapes a room full of rocking chairs.

Contraire, mon frere. Actually, I think it's AWESOME. After multiple swipes, the thing actually starts to soften and/or numb the skin. The pain subsides and you are left with virtually hairless, smooth gams, pits, Happy Trail (or chin - which was the biggest reason I bought the thing).

And then it became obsessive. Where else on my body did I have unwanted hair? I won't go into details, but I will say that, despite needing to take a break from my masochistic spa day, I am feeling much more optimistic about someday tossing the old triple-blade razor!! The little light does help with the super fine hairs, and this thing DOES find the really, really short ones. I even showed my hubby (and, God love him, he pretended he cared) the root of a very, very short hair.

Here's to hair-free days. Or, at the very least, less hairy days! I strongly recommend this product, and I've only owned it for 8 hours!!

Customer Review: Works!
Summary: 5 Stars

I had this on my Amazon Wish List and got it for Christmas. I've had the unopened box on my desk since then and I've glanced at it several times a day. I hesitated trying it out because I really wanted it to work and I was afraid that it would be too painful. I had used an epilator years ago (MANY years ago) and it was a torture machine. It hurt so much!

I was browsing Amazon several weeks ago and I came across this one and I read the reviews and I was amazed that so many people liked it! Yes, people did say there was some pain, but somehow they were able to withstand it and get the wonderful results of smooth skin and not having to shave for a long time.

I wanted those results, too! So, I decided to put it on my wish list and see if anyone got it for me. When I opened my gift on Christmas morning, I was excited and scared at the same time. Ok, I had to try it out now...

I am so happy to say that after trying this out this morning, I can use this! And it works well!

I tried out the head with the massaging rollers first and at first, OUCH! It really hurt. But, somehow, the more I used it the more it felt ok.

Then, I took out the user's guide and read the instructions and found that there was another head (called the EfficiencyPro clip) that was for people that are used to epilators and worked much faster to remove the hair. Ok, I decided to try that out and I was able to use that one, too! And it WAS faster! There was more sensation, but I wouldn't really call it pain. It's hard to describe. For me, using the EfficiencyPro clip is similar to grabbing several eyebrow hairs when tweezing. You can tweeze one hair out at a time and then massage the area and then go on to the next hair, but once you are used to the tweezing, you just go in and grab as many as you can to get the pain over faster! It's the same with the EfficiencyPro clip. Things are done much faster and for me, there was less pain because of the speed of the hair removal.

I did my first leg using the head with the Advanced Massaging Rollers and the second leg using the EfficiencyPro clip and did my second leg in less than half the time.

It left my skin super soft and smooth. I love it!

Customer Review: Answer to My prayers!
Summary: 5 Stars

This epilator is just amazing. After hours of research, it is the answer to my prayers. My legs have very dense, very coarse blonde hair. When I shave, it only lasts for a few hours before it is rough and awful to touch. My British boyfriend started politely complaining about it. He said that European women seem to have the problem solved. So I did some research. I started with waxing. After letting my leg hair grow for two weeks, which I found almost unbearably itchy and annoying, I entered the nail salon, paid $35 and asked for a leg wax. Boy, was that painful! I have a really high tolerance for pain. I had a drug-free natural childbirth and I have been an avid bikini waxer for years. Still, leg waxing brought involuntary tears to my eyes. My two year old daughter was with me and she kept saying, "momma ouch." Furthermore, my legs were not even smooth like I had hoped for in exchange for all of that pain. I decided there had to be a better way and I was determined to find it. I came across the epilator. Now, I am not saying it wasn't painful. But it was considerably better than waxing. I looked at several models before I bought the Braun Silk-Epil. Ultimately, because my hair is blonde, the built in light was key in my decision to buy that model. I have been very happy with my decision. The light is such an awesome part of the design. I took a hot shower, drank a glass of wine and then started epilating. It was fairly painful in areas with dense hair so I broke it down in to little steps and took my time. I changed areas if one became too sensitive. My very first use I was able to do both legs and part of my bikini line. That was three days ago and my legs are still way more smooth than they have ever been. My legs were slightly red the day after and it stung a bit when I took a shower but it was no worse than waxing. I plan on doing a touch-up in a few days. I seriously never ever want to use a razor again. The epilator is a bit expensive but not when you factor in the money that you save from not getting waxes and buying those stupid blades for disposable razors (which are bad for the environment). Three cheers for the Braun Silk Epil X'elle. There is no way I am letting those European girls have smoother legs than this American girl!

Customer Review: Ouch at first!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just bought this a week or so. I recently began waxing my underarms and it was not as painful as I thought but it was messy. Ended up having to do it in the kitchen to be close to the microwave to heat the wax, and that is not the place for waxing your armpits! So while looking around for wax products, I came across this. I thought since it was the cost of a good bikini was job, I'd give it a try. I started first with the underarms. A bit uncomfortable the first time, second time not so bad. I have been doing it every morning, after you get the first big amount off, I think it is less painful to do it daily, since the hair grows in a different times anyway. Then you are only pulling 10-20 hairs out instead of 100-200. I certainly do not want to let it all grow out and go through the initial feeling again. Then I got the nerve up for the legs. I gave it a dry run and it was very uncomfortable, but became bareable after I got over the shock. I also tried the bath first, but it did not make a difference in pain level. I really think those first times it is more painful purely for the amount of hair that is there. So, if you try it once and your turned off by the ouch, try it again the next day. I also have been going over my legs daily for the past week. Did my toes, little ouch. I have gotten close to my bikini line, but I'll have to get back to you on that one, I have not gotten up my nerve yet. I was using the head with the rollers, but now I am using the one without. It gets down closer, but you do have to be careful using it on skin that is not so smooth, I pinched myself just a bit under the arms.

I definately will like not having to go to the salon to get waxed if I can get the nerve up to do the bikini area. I will also like not having to let the hair grow out to a waxable length, expecially the underarm hair.

I have no problems with the cord length, but I have an outlet right near where I use it. My last bathroom, that would of been a problem. Definately like the light and the additional trimmer/epilator heads. I would vote for a cordless unit though!

Unfortunately I can't compare it to other brands or models, but I am very happy to have this as my first epilator.

Customer Review: Absolutely love it!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

First, let me say that I was very hesitant to buy an epilator at all because I was one of the victims of the original Epilady back in the 80's which was a spinning coil that grabbed a bunch of hair and ripped. Yes, it was as bad as it sounds. I remember sitting outside in the snow hoping the cold would numb my legs enough to deal with the pain. It didn't. Money wasted...

Fast forward 20 years...MAJOR leaps in technology and design were made with epilators! I bought the Braun 5270 because I liked the idea that the massaging rollers that would help to dull some of the pain. Well, I didn't even need that attachment. I started with it, but quickly went to the pro clip and maximum efficiency. I did my entire legs without a problem. Sure, it pinched a little, but you kinda get used to it.

After my legs, I was so confident, I went on to my bikini line. The top part, I had no problem with. It wasn't as painful as I had expected. Inside my thighs, though, was another story. I haven't been able to conquer that or my underarms yet. It feels like it's getting caught on my skin even if I pull the skin tight in both of those areas.

Ladies - if you had the torture device know as the original Epilady in the 80's and are hesitant about ever owning one again, DON'T BE! This is nothing compared to that thing! I wish I would have gotten one of these sooner, but I'm so glad I finally did!

I've read a lot of reviews that said that it is painful, but bearable. I'd say it's more than bearable, it's more annoying than painful. That was my experience anyway. And just to put it in perspective, I've only waxed once...recently did full legs and full bikini. I'm so glad I won't have to waste my money on that again!

I hope this review helps! If you can stand the minor annoyance of tweezing, or the pain of waxing, then buy this. I don't think you will be disappointed. The massaging rollers do help, but it also keeps the tweezers from getting to all of your hair. So, it helps, but is less efficient.

Overall, I give this product 5 stars. I think it's great! I wish I bought it years ago, and if I had to do it over again, I'd do it in a heartbeat! Worth every penny!
