Customer Review: cleaner doesn't work

As far as the shaver goes, it provides an adequate cut--no better and no worse than comparable electric razors.
The problems lie with the cleaning mechanisms. After you shave, you place it in the cleaning unit, and it tells you whether you need an "intensive", "normal," or "brief" cleaning (it might use different adjectives). In the two years I've had the razor, it has NEVER told me I needed a "normal" cleaning--always intensive or brief. This is true even if it's been 6, 12, 24, 48 hours, or whatever since my last shave.
Even worse, after about a year, the cleaner started to really malfunction. When I press the "clean" button it will start to clean, but then never turn off. The normal cycle is supposed to be like 30-60 minutes (which I think is a bit long to begin with), but this thing will keep going for hours or days unless I shut it off! Really a pain. I took it to a repair guy (while it was still under warranty), and he didn't do anything for me.
FInally, the alcohol refill cartridges are expensive--about $10-12 for a two-pack. It's freaking alcohol; what does that cost Braun to make, 29 cents a package?
Very disappointing.
