Customer Reviews of Braun Series 5 (8985) Men's Shaver

Customer Review: Fantastic shaver
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been a wet razor user for years. I got the Braun razor for Christmas last year and use it every day. It's great. I used to get nasty irritation and ingrown hairs around my neckline with the regular wet razor, but not at all with the electric. I was worried that the electric wouldn't shave as close as a blade. Especially since CR said it wouldn't. But, I think it shaves just as well. And the stubble isn't as sharp either. The Clean and Renew system is great too. It really does feel like a new shaver after the cleaning. Mine typically went to the "Eco" level of cleaning and the cartidge has lasted over six weeks. I'll probably be able to get nearly two months of cleanings before I'll have to replace it. Although, I may stretch it out a bit because of the cost of the cartridges and I can cheap on some things. Overall, a great electric shaver and very comfortable.

Customer Review: Fantastic Razor.
Summary: 5 Stars

Before I bought this I had one of the older models. After a number of years that finally broke and I wanted to try out a new razor, so I bought a Remington. It was one of the kind that featured three circular blades on the head. The Remington couldn't handle 'the workload', so to speak. I don't think it could cut paper, much less my facial hair.

So I wound up buying this after, as I should have in the first place. The Remington put me through fifteen minutes of hair-pulling torment, but the 360 Complete had absolutely no problems with my tougher facial hair. All I needed was a single pass from this thing. I was done in no time.

Now, go for THIS model. Do not bother shelling out extra money for a lousy LCD screen you will probably never look at. This is really the ideal razor for someone who has a lot of hair, or only shaves a few times a week.

Customer Review: Good Razor..but it still leaves you wanting more
Summary: 4 Stars

This product shaves well. Like the manual says your skin needs to adjust to the razor over the first few days of use (up to 20).
I love the trim feauture which lets you shave the tough spots like your mustache or line up your goatee (it especially helps in those areas of your face that will become irritated regardless of how much you try not to shave too long over, i.e. the area above your chin).
The only drawback for this shaver is the fact that it does not shave as close as a conventional blade (i.e. mach 3 and such) and that the shaver will heat up after shaving for more than 5 minutes which will cause irritation.
Other than that the product is great, you will no longer get the shaving bumps you get from regular razors and the clean & renew system gives you a brand new shaver everytime you clean it.
I'm glad i bought this product.

Customer Review: Worth Every Penny!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a sufferer of sensitive skin... particularly right above the neckline. I have tried every possible combination of shaving with a blade and several electric razors. This by far is the best I have used to date. Don't get me wrong it's not cheap and there is a need for steady supply of cleaning solutions and replacement blades to keep your razor at top performance, however, it has been worth every penny.

I don't want you to walk away with the impression that this shaver is the only part of the solution... absolutely not. I still use a shaving lubricant and when I have finished shaving I have to immediately spray my face with an antimicrobial (any type of first aid spray). But this combination has been a winner for me. No longer does shaving have to be a painful ordeal and I don't walk around looking like I have a bad case of hives.

Customer Review: Curly Hair, BEWARE....
Summary: 1 Stars

Why trade off a COMPLETE shave for a close shave? Sure enough, you will get a close shave, but if all of your facial hair does not grow at a perfect 90 degree angle to your face, you will NEVER get a complete shave. I bought this thing hoping to save time in the morning shaving and cleaning the razor. In the past (and now present) I've always used the Norelco ROTARY electric shaver. Having curly hair, the rotary razor does a decent job, no more than three strokes to shave ALL the hair in any given area.

The Braun "360 Complete" is pure marketing hype. It takes 3 x's longer, leaving my face sore and hot, and I would still have to touch up many visible hairs with my old Norelco! The auto cleaner is not smart. Cleaning cycle based on battery wear, not the condition of the razor. If you have curly facial hair, buy anything else.
