Customer Reviews of BreathKey Keychain Breathalyzer - World's Smallest Breath Alcohol TesterCustomer Review: Breathkey Digital Keychain Breathalyzer Summary: 3 Stars
I would say that this product has received higher reviews than it should. One of the main reasons I bought it was because of the reviews. Sometimes the product gives what I feel are accurate results, but other times I feel like it's very inaccurate. When consuming hard liquor I blow a much higher number I feel than if I am drinking beer. Though I "feel the same" based on the number of drinks downed I have consistantly blown higher when drinking liquor. Also, no review has mentioned this but it maxes out at .2 BAC so if you wanted to get this to see how drunk you really are this breathalyzer is not for you. I do like having it and don't think I will return it. I just wish the confidence I had in the item when using it was a little better.
Customer Review: Not the best Summary: 2 Stars
I have several criticisms about this product. First,
despite careful adherence to directions, the readings
are inconsistent; I've elected to use an average
of 2 or 3 readings. Secondly, the key ring attachment
broke within two days of being in my pocket (not trauma
that I know of). Finally, only AFTER the product is
received is it made known that it has to be returned to
the manufacturer each year for calibration (at what
price)? The company's response to that last criticism
was none of their competitors mention the calibration;
and, there isn't sufficient space on Amazon to disclose
it. A defensive response isn't a customer-friendly
response in my opinion.
Customer Review: pretty cool Summary: 3 Stars
I really like this product. it does what is says it will. It's pretty cool to quantify how drunk you are, to see how fast you get drunk, and most useful how quickly you sober up. By the way the upper limit of .2 is plenty high. I love this thing.
At first I was a frustrated that "lifetime battery" meant you just can't change it, and it will last a few years. I've heard from one of their representatives that if you send it in for recalibration, they will replace the battery, which you cannot replace yourself. So that is inconvenient, but not the worst thing ever. After hearing this I've edited my review; however, I cannot edit my star-rating. Oh well.
Customer Review: Inexpensive insurance against bad judgement.... as good as a designated driver Summary: 5 Stars
Inexpensive, compact, easy to use. The best way yet to prove to myself that perhaps I shouldn't be driving. I am very conservative about driving after drinking ... but how many times have I been at a party, managed the cocktails to "1 per hour", and then wondered if I've crossed the line during the evening. My 'perfect' self discipline has been easily confirmed several times with the breath key. Great device - and FDA approved - 1st class! My business associates will find a very useful 'corporate gift' this year - before the Christmas/New Year's parties begin.
Customer Review: it's great and it works Summary: 4 Stars
this product really is small and light enough to be kept on a key chain. it works (although i haven't tested it with alcohol.) i trust that it will work then also. i use it for my high school son, who is all for it. his friends have been drinking, and one got a dui. my son would rather me test him once a month, than have words over it or questions. the poor kid with the dui wished someone had tested him the night he drove home. he's facing a lot of trouble now. as others have mentioned, remember that they say that it only goes up to .2.
