I bought this product and am amazed by the results. You need to
understand what I've been through before I found it. I went to Kaiser
Permanente Clinic and saw a general practitioner about my neck bumps that I thought was
folliculitis and he assured me it was a fungus (tinea barbae) and
quickly wrote me a prescription for an oral antifungal. I am a Doctor
of Chiropractic so I had to do basic dermatology and I told him that
wasn't what I thought it was. He assured me it certainly was a fungus
and took out a book and showed me some pictures that I thought looked
very different than my neck. I then asked if we could do a sample
to confirm it was a fungus. He agreed and I asked if a topical
antifungal would be sufficient. He initially said no but then spoke
with a dermatologist who agreed with this plan of action. I agreed to
use it which I did for 2 weeks at which time I called to see if the
lab results were back and I spoke with another General Practitioner
who told me the topical prescription that the other doctor gave me
probably wouldn't work and I should just buy Lamisil over the counter.
I did that for 3 weeks and didn't notice any difference so then I
called to find out the results and get an appointment with a
dermatologist. At this point I found out the test results were
negative I didn't have a fungus or any bacterial growth. If I was a
patient with no medical background I would have been on the oral
anti-fungal for the 5 weeks as they tried to determine if it was a
fungus. And there are serious side effects to these medications.
I then had to wait 1 month to see the dermatologist. The dermatologist
walked in, looked at me with a magnifying glass and told me I had
pseudofolliculitis barbae. She said there wasn't much she could do for
that (I appreciated the honesty)... she could write me a prescription
for Retin-A or I could try a Bump Stopper product. She wrote me
the prescription for Retin-A and then I started asking about the side
effects (increased sensitivity to touch and sun) and it was apparent I
would try Bump Stopper 2 first.
A major problem is pseudofolliculitis barbae is more common in the
black community and here I am a white guy in Hawaii seeing Asian
doctors and they had no clue.
I wasted too much money and time and I just wished someone had told me
about Bump Stopper earlier. It has cleared up about 80-90% after 2 weeks of me
using it as directed and I'm amazed!
