Please be aware that this lotion can be highly allergenic for babies and toddlers. Our 18-month old son has sporadically broken out in horrible rashes and hives over the last few months. The first time it happened, he woke up in the middle of the night screaming, covered in massive red welts that he had scratched bloody and raw. We have cut short vacations and have had to give our son prescription medications to combat the outbreaks and relieve my son from the itching, swelling and discomfort. We have also paid expensive co-pays at allergy clinics and to our pediatrician to try and figure out what was happening. We did not get any answers as to what was causing this severe reaction, which was happening only in the middle of the night AND only when we were out of town. We went through extensive allergy testing and treatment only to be told he wasn't allergic to anything.
Because the cool weather is approaching, I used the last of my travel sample on our son one recent morning (as opposed to post-bath aquaphor) and about 5 hours later he had another massive itchy rash. This was the first "day time" episode. Through this trial and error I have come to realize it is Burt's Bees Buttermilk lotion that is causing these horrible reactions. At this point, I am not sure what particular ingredient is the culprit. But there are a number of online forums with parents complaining about the same rash and hive reaction to the lotion.
I am usually a Burt's Bees fan, but if you buy this product please do a patch test on your child.

I'm no cosmetic expert. In fact I have absolutely zero interest in cosmetics (and don't even wear them) so you know I'm not someone who buys beauty products for fun and for the novelty of it. But I live in the desert where the dry air desiccates your skin so I sometimes have to pick up product for skin care. I got attracted to the Burt's Bees products via their cute and creative in-store displays and then ending up trying a wide range of their products.
This body lotion I find essential after showers, especially in winter-time (when you're skin feels like it's been flash-fried to absolute dryness the minute you step out of the shower and towel off). It has a rich silky feel but it doesn't feel greasy or waxy.
It absorbs fast and keeps all itching at bay for a few hours at least. It has a wonderful subtle smell: kind of a sweet, honey scent that isn't overpowering. For my money, this Milk and Honey scent is better than the scent from the similar Carrot-based body lotion, nor does this lotion stain your clothing like the Carrot body lotion does. Highly recommended!

This is a very moiturizing lotion! At first it feels a little tacky on the skin, but after it sinks in all that's left is softness. It's long lasting too; 1 application will last for almost the entire day. This lotion is also GREAT on the face, believe it or not. I've used this everynight before bed (after a shower) on my face for the past 4 weeks and my skin has never been softer. There have been no clogged pores or breakouts (I have T-zone skin too), just really smooth skin. I also tried using it in the morning under makeup and the results were wonderful! My makeup applied very smoothly and and didn't run off later in the day like usual. I did however only give this 4 stars because the scent could be better. It has a creamy coconut scent to it, which is fine, but then there seems to be mint in the background as well which I don't care for. But that's a minor issue with all the benefits this lotions has. I love this lotion. When my son was in an infant, I used the little travel size kit bottle version on his skin, when I'd finish giving him a bath. I originally meant to buy the Burt's Bees - Milk & Honey Body in 7 fl oz., but got confused with this product, so I ended up getting this item instead. Am I disappointed that I screwed up the order? That I didn't get the Milk & Honey, but the Baby Bee instead? Heck no! I love this stuff! It smells so good! As soon as this shipment arrived, I could not wait to rub it on, even though I thought it was the Milk & Honey. The smell is also definitely lasting, considering that I put it on 2-3 hours ago. One more thing, I found the exact same product (Burts Bees Baby Bee Buttermilk Lotion), right here on this site. Why are you selling 2 different products when they are the same? (lol) (Or am I wrong and one bottle is bigger than the other?)

I love this lotion! Those who rated it low mostly commented on its smell...to be honest, when I used it for the first time, I was also put off by its "strong" scent. But as I continued to use it, I realized that the scent is "acquired taste"...you eventually will love it! Cos every time I use it now, I'm like god that smells awesome! It only seems strong at first, besides when it has already been absorbed by my baby's skin, it makes him smell really nice and delicious! As a moisturizer, it is excellent! My 3-month-old son had tiny dry patches on his arms and legs due to the cold weather, but after applying this lotion for a couple days, it cleared up and his skin was smooth and soft again! Two thumbs up!! Don't let the "strong scent" deter you, this is a safe and great lotion for babies!
