Customer Review: Wonderful Products, Nice Assortment, Great Company Philosophy

Purchasing this sampler and trying these fantastic products has prompted me to buy several full-sized products of this line including the Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème, Peppermint Soap, Wild Lettuce Toner, Bees Wax Lip Balm, and Citrus Spice Soap. The Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème and Peppermint Soap are my favorites so far. Burt's Bees' commitment to recycling and using natural ingredients is consistent with my own philosophy. Having been a cosmetologist in my younger years, I looked up some of the unfamiliar ingredients in my Dictionary of Cosmetic Ingredients. As far as I can tell, everything is all natural and benign. The packaging is also very nice. The plastic containers have a high percentage of recycled content, and the soaps are paper wrapped. The company also uses some glass containers, which are not as bad for landfills as plastic. I am allergic to many products that contain perfumes and fragrances; and though Burt's Bees' products are scented, they are not overpowering. The scents are subtle and non-irritating. I will be using these products for many years to come.

If you're looking for natural or organic products that are less harmful to the environment, Burt's Bees used to be a good choice. I particularly adore their diaper cream. But as usual, every safe haven from the big polluters eventually gets ruined in some fashion, and now it has happened to Burt's Bees products too. Burt's Bees has been bought by CHLOROX. Yes, I said CHLOROX. Use your search engine to search for "Burt's Bees", "Chlorox", and the "New York Times" and you'll see an article about it in the New York Times Business section. Chlorox says it wants to learn how to be more green. Give me a break, all they want to do is learn how to suck money away from people who are trying to go green and use it to pad their own wallets. If you want green lotions and cosmetics, try shopping with groups that have signed the "Compact for Safe Cosmetics", by searching those words together. As other customers here have noted, I was under the impression that what I was purchasing was larger and more expansive. The word "starter" did not appear in the product description, which led me to believe it was a full-sized kit, not a package of miniature products. The product arrived in a damaged external package (torn side) and with some of the products spilled open so that there was a strong scent attached.
I've seen the same kit sold in local stores for a couple dollars less, without adding the shipping and handling costs. It was not worth the money or time of purchasing it. The seller should more accurately represent what's being sold in the description, a larger image, and more detailed text. Also, proper packaging to prevent tearing and spilling would have been nice. It's the only item I ordered thus far for the holidays this year with which I've been unhappy.

We love Burt's Bees products! I could do without the honey-based lip glosses or lip balms that taste slightly funny, but that's my only real complaint about their products. The foot cream is absolutely amazing, a light mint/menthol scent to them. The vanilla skin balm is amazing and smells wonderful. The coconut cream for hands and cuticles feels amazing!
This head-to-toe starter kit is amazing, because it gives you a nice mini-sized introduction to the most popular Burt's Bees products at a reasonable price, so you can sample a variety or products and see which ones you like the best before putting a lot of money into the full-sized products. Their products are all natural and that's a big plus if you're looking to remove chemicals and such from your life.
This also makes a great gift pack for a friend or holiday/birthday gift too!
