I just went through my second Chi in two years . . . very disappointed. I loved how the product handled but it didn't last long for the price you pay (my conair curling iron has last 10+ years!). . . the first one I had broke with a week left on the warranty so I called and they said to send the product back in with $15 for processing (on top of the shipping I had to pay to send it in), then after almost 5 weeks I received a new one but they DOWNGRADED me from a 2" to a 1" because they were out of stock. They did not send an explanation (beyond the invoice that had a small notation about it being out of stock) or apology . . . I guess they thought they could just slip in a cheaper/smaller one and I wouldn't notice! Nice.
I called to ask about it and they said I could send it back (paying the shipping again!) and I could wait for the 2" but they did not know when it would be in stock again (way to go manufacturer) - I didn't want to wait another 5+ weeks for the originally I bought so I just asked for some other products to make up for the price difference - they sent me (basically samples!) of their shampoo and conditioner, which sucks too.
Humph . . . and btw the 1" they sent me just broke - just a year later!
Customer Review: Gorgeous hair and I can't burn myself! Take it from a klutz!

I got this iron a month ago and am loving it - am addicted to having smooth, straight, silky tresses every day. Everyone's stopping me to say my hair looks so much longer (it's long and straight, but I used to blow it dry with a huge round brush for straightest style possible, but it was puffy and frizzy compared to my new look). Now I actually let it air dry the night before and then flat iron it in about 5 - 10 minutes so I'm definitely abusing my hair way less than with all that blowdrying alone (which took me half an hour each time) - amazing. It actually does make the cuticle look smoother too.
The red velvety stuff on the outside of the unit around the ceramic heated plates is what saves me, however. No matter how fabulously it worked if it heated enough anywhere on the outside to burn me, like a curling iron, I was not interested. (Bad memories of neck burns) This one you can literally close it (the jaws) and wrap your hand around the outside (red part) while hot and not burn yourself. The black part is some kind of heavy duty plastic material which doesn't get hot at all.
So I can actually get it all the way to my scalp or neck without hurting myself. Wow. Great product. I am a huge fan!

First of all, I would like to say that the person who burnt their hair on the iron is not so smart...this product has temperature settings! How could you burn your hair? I just don't get it! I've used this product once in a salon as a trial (oh by the way I was about to pay $260 on this! ha-like that was going to happen, I came right home to check amazon.com :) ) and I loved it! It works great if you use a serum of some sort (I used Aveda??) because this ceramic iron locks in the shine from the serum producing greeeeat results. I have straight hair naturally, but I have many little hairs that stick up due to previous damages and it took care of those. I also have shorter, frizzy, hairs underneath my hair (the "baby" hairs) which it took care of also! I am DEFINITELY going to place my order soon, this is a great product at a great price! (believe it or not...yes this is a very expensive product and I would never usually spend this much!!) I really hope this helped! If you don't believe me, go to a higher end salon and pay the 15-20 bucks to get a 'style'--just get them to use their Chi to straighten your hair!Customer Review: don't let the price scare you

My mom and I both have super thick, super wavy, and crazy frizzy hair that is out of control. We've both been trying disappointing shampoos, conditioners, straighteners, and hair puddies, mousses, gels, creams, and treatments. After some comparison shopping around, we decided to order a Chi for the both of us. I can easily say it was the best purchase we've ever made. Paying the one time price of $140 for the Chi is a lot more time-saving and money-saving than blowing $10 here on some product that doesn't work or $30 there on a straightener not strong enough.
The Chi heats up in like 15 seconds to about 425 degrees F. I can let my hair air dry and then use the Chi and have a hairstyle in 5 minutes that looks like it took all day to do. Also I don't use any styling products anymore because the Chi does it all.
I know i took a risk ordering such an expensive hair product, but now i know it was totally worth it after all the compliments both me and my mom have gotten on our hair. Chi's are definitely the best straighteners and it's SO worth it.

Alright so I got my Chi Turbo for Christmas. At first I was super excited and than I talked to a hairstylist who told me that the CHI turbo has 2x the amount of problems as the origianl often not heating up even close to the ORIGINAL CHI. I figured oh well mine was great had no problems. Now we are 5 days later and when I went to use my CHI turbo this morning it's barely even heated up enough to be hot to the touch. So luckily I still have my receipt and I am bringing back to TARGET and getting a full refund. I am than going to TRADE SECRETS which offers a LIFETIME warrenty on their CHI products. So if you have a trade secrets near you I would highly reccomend buying your product there. I did however LOVE THE PRODUCT. It's still a product I would highly suggest however would NOT spend the extra money just because it says it's a turbo, they did something right when they created the origianl something they have yet been able to top. I would say that this product is well worth the money as long as you get a warrenty to insure your product.
