I have owned another type of fireplace fan for a number of years . It had to be given a push when the fire got to about 300 degrees and at times would be difficult to restart if the fire cooled down. The Caframo fan is GREAT. It starts by itself while the kindling is going and but the time I add some bigger logs it is a whirling away moving the warm air around. I am using the new one right to my old one because I am hoping the new fan on the block can teach the old one a thing or two about working.
