Customer Reviews of Ceramic Tools CT2555 1" Professional Ceramic Flat IronCustomer Review: Great Straightener for the Price. Summary: 5 Stars
After 4 years I had to replace my old straightener and decided to get this one after some research. The price and great ratings are the main thing that caught my eye. After paying 16 bucks for my old straightener which worked great, I wasn't shelling out 50+ bucks for another one. So here's a breakdown:
Pros:
1. Heats up quickly. 25 settings for any hair type. I consider my hair more on the thin side, but I like to keep it set to around 20 when I straighten my hair, I could honestly keep it a bit lower and still straighten fine.
2. Glides over your hair smoothly, no pulling. It feels like a straightener isn't being used on my hair at all.
3. On/Off Button.
4. Exceptionally long cord with a swivel feature (good if you need to straighten someone else's hair or don't have an outlet right next to your mirror).
5. Eliminates any frizz or flyaway hairs I have and straightens each section in one go.
6. Easy to flip or curl the ends of your hair.
7. I saw a comment about the plates having a gap, which is something I don't like about some straighteners. But with this one the plates get pressed together perfectly, no gap.
8. Great Price!
Cons:
1. It does get very hot. I wouldn't recommend the highest setting, unless nothing lower works. I can see how people would burn their hair using this if they just set it to 25 right away.
2. No lock feature to keep it closed when not in use. I loved this about my old straightener.
3. It has a piece of plastic that comes down after the plates in the middle of the straightener. I think this is to help limit the pressure put on the plates when squeezing the straightener closed. Sometimes my hair gets caught in the plastic 'tooth' when I straighten. But this is just an error on my part for trying to straighten too much hair at once or putting my hair too far back in the straightener and not realizing it.
Overall I highly recommend this straightener. I don't see the need to pay $100+ for a Chi, when people I know have had them break so easily. I can straighten my hair in 5-10mins and even though my hair normally curls like crazy in the Florida humidity, it stays straight throughout the day after using this.
Customer Review: fabulous! Summary: 5 Stars
this is GREAT product! Before this i had a conair 5-in-1, big disapointment, i had to go over my hair about 5 times to get the look i wanted, also it did not keep my hair straight all day- it went back to frizzy when it was hot out. I decided that it was time for a new straightner, it took me a very long time to decide which was best- i went to many other websites and read their reviews of the product, on other websites it had very good ratings so i decided that this was the one. When i got it i was astounded, i plugged it in and then bent down and opened my cabinent under the sink to get my hairbrush, about 10 seconds after i had turned on the straightner i touched the plates to see if i could feel it warming up- much to my surprise in burned me! I was amazed. I had never thought it would heat up so fast. i put a chunk of my hair (thick, very wavy, with little frizzies) in between the plates and plulled down slowly- my hair was perfectly straight- also the straightner made it very GLOSSY and it flipped it (just a little) at the ends- i was finnished my whole head in about 15 min. - the other straightner took about 45min to an hour to be somewhat satisfiying. My hair was compleatly frizless and sleek and shiny. I was afriad that it would get wavy as a slept- like it had before- but when i woke up i only had one crease that came out in about a min. after straightneg. I am very impressed and recomened this to anyone with WAVY FRIZZY THICK and somethimes not very MANAGABLE hair. I don't think that this is very expensive because i was debating between the wigo and this and i hope that i made the correct decision. also this shipped two days after i ordered it- and i only paid for regular (7 days) I love it. i have had it for about a month now and i could not be happier. i love you CERAMIC TOOLS!
Customer Review: Fabulous flat iron for a great price!!! Summary: 5 Stars
After my beloved $50 Jilbere de Paris flat iron I purchased from Sally Beauty Supply finally kicked the bucket after 4 years, I was in the market for a replacement flat iron at an inexpensive price. I am a Caucasian female with very thick, wavy hair that is cut in a angled bob that requires being styled with a flat iron to give my hair a smooth appearance. I tried a $50 Conair from CVS that pulled at my hair and did not get hot enough which was returned ASAP. In the meantime, I borrowed an Andis flat iron from a friend that she bought for less than $20 at Wal Mart; this also did not get hot enough. I ordered my CT2555 flat iron from Wal Mart due to their free "ship to store". This flat iron works wonders on my hair just like my Jilbere de Paris model did. Because I have very thick hair, I keep the temp cranked all the way up to 25 and it does not fry my hair. This flat iron has a very long cord that swivels which is a nice feature. The ceramic plates have rounded edges that do not pull my hair and come together perfectly without a gap. The area lined in velvet does get very hot, however, my hands are very tolerant of heat therefore it is not bothersome and is to be expected with something that reaches 446 degrees. My only wish is that it had automatic shutoff, but many of the much more expensive models don't have that either. I have never owned or used any of the uber-expensive models such as FHI or CHI, so I am not able to make a comparison between the CT2555 with something much more costly, but this suits my needs just fine. If this hadn't worked, I was going to march myself back to Sally's Beauty Supply and purchase another Jilbere de Paris; now I don't have to resort to that. I would love to have a second one to keep at work!
Customer Review: A boyfriend's review Summary: 5 Stars
This review is for the boyfriends, husbands, dads, or other males buying this as a gift for their women.
I'm a guy. I like and am knowledgeable about manly gadgets (gps, computers, drills, etc.) This flat iron, or "hair-straightener" as I call it, is one of those things that I don't know much about and don't really care to know much about.
My girlfriend though, is interested. Interested to the point where she checked amazon daily, sometimes hourly, to find the right one at the right price. After about three weeks of searching and hinting, this one was it. The ceramic function seems to be very important to girls; not sure why... maybe it helps it heat up and cool down faster, i don't know. Keep in mind though that this product WILL NOT help the girls get ready to go out any faster than usual, still about 45 minutes - an hour. I have noticed that she has not complained about how her hair looks immediately after using the new straightener, she complains about her outfit now. The rare instances that I do go into the bathroom when she's getting ready, she seems happy with her straightener and pleased that I got it for her.
For less than $20 it is well worth the price, especially if your wife/girlfriend is still using a metal straightener. If she is complaining about her current straightener's power cord, or blaming her time getting ready on her flat iron, I think that is girl-code for "she wants a new one". Hope this helps, highly recommended.
Customer Review: Amazing for the Price Summary: 5 Stars
After my 3rd Chi flat iron broke, I was not eager to dump $70 on a new one. I searched Amazon for some lower-priced flat irons and decided on this one. I've been using it every day for a month now and I can say it's doing an extremely good job. I have very unruly, wavy hair and this iron flattens it just as well as the Chi did. I did like the Chi more, it was a bit smoother, but this one does a pretty darn good job in comparison. And you can't beat the price! At $17, I expected to have a lot to complain about. I was pleasantly surprised by it's performance, and I honestly have nothing bad to say about it.
If you're looking for a decent, affordable flat iron, then buy this. It's one of the best money-saving decisions I've ever made. It's not the best out there, obviously, and I'd be surprised if it lasted more than a year, but I definitely won't buying any more Chi's. This thing does a pretty much the same job at a quarter of the price...the only difference being that it's a tad rougher on my hair. I have a bottle of heat-protective spray that I use with before straightening my hair, and I'd highly recommend getting something like this. Straightening, no matter what iron you use, is very rough on your hair. Especially if you do it often.
