Customer Review: Another option...
Summary: 4 Stars

In all honesty, I have never tried Certain Dri.

What I have tried is a product called DRYSOL, available in Canada at pharmacies over the counter, and in the U.S. with a doctor's prescription.

I'm a 26 year old male, and for most of my high school days (where I wore my jacket to every single class - and wanted to die), and most of my university days, I knew what it felt like to be controlled by sweat. You learn to choose your clothes accordingly, you avoid any situation that involves you raising your arms, and you stop enjoying life. You worry that you're sweating, and that others are aware of this, which of course only makes you sweat more.

I tried Drysol just at the end of my university career. It burned fairly significantly at first, and it still burns somewhat when I use it occasionally. HOWEVER, not having to deal with sweat the way I used to makes it so very worth it.

You put it on under your armpits at night, and then rinse it off the next morning in the shower. You still use deoderant, the way you normally would. (I guess anti-perspirant if you're reading this;) I used it every other night or so to start - or whatever you can tolerate - you're armpits will let you know, and then less and less frequently as the product began to take effect more and more. (It can take a couple weeks to really work - be patient.)

Now I can use it once every couple weeks or so and still do not have to worry about sweaty armpits. I've noticed a little more sweating in other trouble spots (feet, back, bum), but it's nothing that even comes close to how bad I had it before.

This product has set me free in so many ways. I'm still conscious of where my armpits are at (are they sweating, are they not?), but I'm not WORRIED about it. I teach high school now, and I usually don't even think about it. It's funny because this time around I'm actually enjoying it - as a student I hated every second of it, but now I love it!

If you haven't tried it yet and you've given up hope on all other products, please try Drysol. At the expense of sounding cheesey and cliche, it truly has changed my life. I can't think of a better way to spend twenty bucks.

Customer Review: Pit free
Summary: 5 Stars

I doubt I've ever written a review in my life, but then I was never so completely sold as when I started using Certain Dry. It is absolutely the best product I've ever purchased for sweating. For the past 20 years, I've been a heavy sweater and I've tried everything to hide it: dress shields (briefly), instant dry workout gear, breathable Golf shirts, sweatshirts, double t-shirts, black shirts, white shirts, etc. NOTHING EVER WORKED. I also just tried DEGREE clinical Strength products and they were absolutely worthless. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON DEGREE CLINICAL STRENGTH.

Tired of the excess sweating and pit stains on all my white shirts, I heard about Botox for sweating, so I checked it out on the web and then the add popped up for Certain Dry. At $5 or $6 a box, I figured who cares, I'd give it a try first. After all, I've spent hundreds of dollars on experimental methods I saw in the back of magazines, so why not another 6 bucks.

I purchased Certain Dry about two weeks ago and it worked instantly. I now wear it every other day and recently went out in a gray t-shirt. I couldn't believe that I passed the GRAY T-SHIRT test IMMEDIATELY. When I say immediately, I mean the very next day.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product. I applied it as directed on the box; at night like a deodorant roll on. It does not run at all and dries pretty quickly (about 2-3 minutes). I have gone 48 hours between applications and I still remain dry, so I assume it will last 72 hours, but haven't tried. Also, I have NOT experienced any irritation, just some minor itching for a few minutes after application but this goes away quickly and well worth it.

I only wrote this review to be helpful because I know what it is like to be be embarrased by EXTREME SWEATING and I think you should give it a try. It's sold at Targets, Wal-Mart's, but didn't see it at local grocery stores. It's always on the bottom shelf since they don't spend the marketing blitz that P&G does.

GIVE IT A TRY and let me know, I'm curious to see what you think.

Customer Review: Works fantastic, but it burns a little
Summary: 4 Stars

I had been noticing the antiperspirants/deodorants I was using would work for a week or two, then begin a gradual downhill slope to failure. On with the next brand and the same old story.

They say insanity is doing the same things over and over again but expecting a different result. WHY was I continuing to purchase products with the same active ingredient and expecting they would suddenly work because they said "clinical strength?"

Sitting next to the full, useless containers of Proctor and Gamble products galore is my bottle of Certain Dri. Two months and I've had literally not a drop of sweat in the axillary area. I have found I can skip a day but not two so far. I don't need a deodorant either...the bacteria from sweat is what causes odor, and I'm not sweating anymore!

I have noticed the itch/burn that some other folks on here have mentioned. It disappears rapidly for me and is a minor nuisance when compared to replacing...how many containers of product and how many shirts? (By the way, the product itself is comparably priced to the Useless Brands and lasts a lot longer.) I am heeding the warning of other reviewers to not scratch if it itches because (they say) then Certain Dri won't work for them anymore. Why take chances?

I have not yet noticed additional sweating elsewhere to compensate for the 'pits. I have had no dark marks or other problems. You may have a different experience but I have had an overwhelmingly good one. Give it a chance, it just may be the solution for you.

UPDATE: This product is STILL working great, but now it's even better because I hardly ever have to use it- maybe once every couple of weeks- not because I'm sweating, but because I happened to remember I own a bottle of this great stuff. So strong, I would have concerns about my children having extra/missing limbs if I were of reproductive age. Ask your doc if you have concerns.

Customer Review: After two years, still love it!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used Certain Dri antiperspirant for over two years now, and I LOVE it. I came to this product for two reasons. First, I was having problems with excessive sweating. If I got even a little warm, I would sweat right through whatever I was wearing. If I went to a job interview, I had to wear extra shirts under my outfit because my pits would be drenched after 10 minutes. I had started shopping for tops by colors that would be least likely to show perspiration. I also had b.o. when I sweat like this--yuck. And I'd tried a million different brands of deodorant. I needed something that *worked.*

Second, I'm in my early thirties, and I'm working very hard to be conscientious about the chemicals I'm exposing myself to every day, especially when it comes to household and personal-care products. I was tired of using something containing aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex (i.e., chlorine derivative) that didn't work...but then, neither did any of the all-natural options. I prefer natural, organic, and very simple ingredients whenever possible. The resource I use most often to discover what ingredients/products are safe or unsafe is SkinDeep, [...], compiled by EWG. They rate ingredients and brand products on a scale of 0-10 based on research, 0 being likely to be very safe and 10 meaning there was evidence that something could be really bad for you. This deodorant scored a one!

I use this twice a week at night before bed, and use an unscented, all-natural crystal deodorant daily in the morning as a refresher. No more pit stains, waaay fewer scary chemicals, and I still sweat normally when I exercise. I will probably use this product forever.

(Note: I used it once right before putting on a new dark purple top, and it discolored the underarm fabric. I've *never* had this problem when I use it at night. Follow the package directions: don't put it on, then get dressed for the day.)

Customer Review: So far, so good
Summary: 5 Stars

This is only my first week of using the product, but so far I am really, really, really satisifed! I have really sensitive skin normally, so I was really nervous abut trying it. Abput 2 weeks after I heard about the product, my husband commented about me needing a better deoderant after doing a load of laundry - off to the drugstore we went! I figured I could handle a terrible buring sensation if it meant salvaging my wardrobe.

I have to say that I don't think my problem is as bad as some others have described - but still pretty bad. Any time I wore a tight shirt I would soak through the armpit area, and the sweat seemed to stay primarily in the armpits with loose shirts, although it would sometimes feel it drip down my side...yuck. I managed to hide it pretty well with baggy clothes, keeping my arms close to my side, but it was still super nasty.

After the first night of applying Certain Dri, I have completely dry underarms and it is a wonderful feeling. I usedit about 30 minutes after mybed time shower, and I shaved my underarms the next morning. Any minor adjustments to my schedule are well worth it. I tried skipping a ngiht, and it seemed to last me until about 36 hours after the first application, but even then it was a very slight, damp feeling, not my usual sweatiness.

I actually heard about the product on a message board, and one person commented that she has cysts inher underarms as a result of the product...so I am going to consult with my doctor just to see if I should watch for anything strange.

As far as the burning sensation - for me it's really not bad. It stings for about 30 seconds after I apply it and I found that it can irritate the outer edges of my underarm if I'm not careful to apply it only to the places where hair normally grows. I'm sure it is different for everyone, but to me it was worth the $5 to give it a try.
