Cetaphil Antibacterial Gentle Cleansing Bar is indeed the optimum choice for my problem skin.
This pH balance non-soap cleansing bar is a super gentle all over body wash. I even use it on my face in lieu of shaving cream - it's that soothing! The antibacterial ingredient - triclosan, also helps protect my freshly shaved face.
CONS:
This stuff's pricey
Cetaphil Antibacterial Cleansing Bar is very soft and it melts away quickly once it's under the shower stream.
TIP: To reduce wastage of this pricey cleansing bar, don't lather up under the shower, lather up your washcloth instead and store your Cetaphil Cleansing Bar away from the shower (I keep mine in a covered soap dish).

Customer Review: Miracle soap for eczema and psoriasis sufferers!

I cannot express my gratitude for this soap. I've lived with eczema and psoriasis for the last 10 years. After trying Dial Gold antibacterial soap, I avoided antibacterial soaps altogether because I didn't like the way it dried out my skin. I was skeptical of Cetaphil, but decided to give it a try based on all the glowing reviews. It's been 3 months since I started using this soap and my skin has cleared up considerably. I haven't gone this long with clear skin for years. I don't know what is in this soap, but I will say it's close to a miracle for those of us with skin problems. I used to be exclusive to Aveeno Skin Relief Body Wash (fragrance free), but I've now switched entirely to Cetaphil. This soap does not dry out your skin like other antibacterial soaps. In fact, it is so gentle that you can't even tell it's antibacterial. It's more pricey, but definitely worth it. I just hope they never discontinue manufacturing this wonderful product.

I used to use this soap during the winter when the effects of heating and cold air made for tender, easily chafed skin. But time and needs change and I now use this product year-round. This soap is gentle to the skin and does not leave much residue as those commercial dry-skin cleansers. This is the anti-bacterial version although there is a 'plain' version. It's expensive as soap goes, but I have found that the six-pack by-subscription set up Amazon provides brings the per bar cost way below what you'll find on the pharmacy shelves.
There's little fragrance [unlike most commerical soaps] to irritate either the skin or the olfactory. Using a wash cloth, it makes rich suds and it rinses clean. Beware placing it in on a soap holder in the direct stream of your shower. Because it is a super-fatted soap it will wash away before your eyes if you aren't careful about placement.

I come from a tropical country so when I got here about seven years ago, I had to hunt for products that would work well for my hair and skin. I live in NM so it is dry. The other products I tried irritated my skin, made my skin too dry or it was too loaded with moisturizers. They also didn't give me the antibacterial protection that I wanted which translates to odor protection. I tried Cetaphil Antibacterial Cleansing Bar and it kept my skin healthy and provided all-day odor protection. I have been using it for years now. I use a different kind of soap for my face but for the rest of me, this is the only soap I'll use. My husband and my son both use it now too. Amazon has the best price around. I wish I had checked it out sooner. I have a subscription for this product and I love the savings!Customer Review: Better then regular Cetaphil

A doctor recommended Cetaphil because of a condition with my oil glands that caused my skin to break out. I found that the Antibacterial Cetaphil works better then the regular Cetaphil for clearing out my skin infections. Resent research shows you have to scrup for at least 10 seconds to clean the bacteria out of the skin. This is also good because it does not dry out your skin like regular antibacterial soaps. It does dry out my feet and I do need to put extra oil on them. It is nice at my age (58) to use a gentle soap that will not damage the skin. I like the way I can rinse until my skin is just where I want it, not to much oil and not to dry. This product is well worth the price and seems to last longer then the cheaper bars of soap.
