Customer Reviews of Charlie's Soap Powder - 2.64 lb (80 Loads)Customer Review: 5 years of Charlie's Soap and still love it Summary: 5 Stars
I ran across Charlie's Soap about 5 years ago when I was trying to purge my home of potential causes for my then-infant son's extreme eczema. I cannot honestly say any of my efforts made any noticeable difference in his eczema, but I totally fell in love with Charlie's Soap. I love it because:
1) you use so little --- 1 Tbsp per load, so there is little to store.
2) my clothes are reliably clean, soft, and odor-free
3) while it didn't make a dent in the eczema, I found that I really preferred it when I got rid of all the perfumed products we were using. I used a regular detergent ONCE after years of Charlie's Soap and I ended up having to rewash everything and give away the detergent -- I just couldn't stand it.
4) I like dealing with a family business
I also use the spray cleaner, and I gotta tell you --- that stuff will clean just about anything. Love it!
Customer Review: Love this stuff! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this after I heard about it on the pregtastic podcast. Before I knew I was pregnant I had already planned on doing everything as naturally as possible. So when I heard about this soap, I knew I had to try it. First of all it smells very clean, the scent is also very light which is great for someone like me who is allergic to perfumes. Next, it's all-natural which I love, this also means that it's a green product which I also love. It's also good for my baby and I don't have to spend a ton of money on special baby detergent as well as grownup detergent; I can just use one for the whole family.
It always leaves my clothes clean, soft, and smelling fresh. I have not used another dryer sheet since I bought this product and while it does not eliminate static, it does keep my clothes soft. And because it does not have harsh chemicals, it keeps everything I wash looking brand new!
Customer Review: great, inexpensive solution Summary: 5 Stars
I love this soap. I found out about it only from researching natural, economical soap solutions but knew no one who'd tried it around here. So I took a chance and ordered a few bags. After several months of use I can say it does a great job cleaning. It didn't do much for old stains but it does a great job with new potential ones - being on a small farm we've run the gamut of spots from food, dirt, animal wastes, blood, and equipment grime. I love how clean everything looks and smells.
You may not believe the instructions (one scoopful, scooper is buried in the bag so look for it) but trust them! I am using the soap in an HE washer too. I don't think I will ever go back to conventional laundry soap.
Instead of using the bag, I fill a large size plastic yogurt container, cleaned and dried, and use that to store the powder. I find it easier to open and scoop that way.
Customer Review: Not for me Summary: 3 Stars
I bought Charlie's based on the rave reviews I read here and I'm trying to be more environmentally aware of the products I'm using. I didn't have the great outcomes that others have experienced. I'm washing clothes for my family which includes messy children. I did an initial load to clean up the residue in my front loader. When I used Charlie's, my clothes were always coming out of the wash with stains. They also held onto odors. I can't tell you how many times I had to rewash clothes because of stains or odors. This never happened with my old commercial detergent. I decided to start using two scoops instead of one scoop of Charlie's and this made a marginal improvement. I do not have hard water. I love the fact that Charlie's is unscented and I love the fact that it's "greener" than other detergents, but I'm not willing to give up the superior performance of my old detergent.
Customer Review: Charlie's soap is the best Summary: 5 Stars
Charlie's Soap is the best. No hazardous synthetic scents or chemicals. If you are using "fabric softener" or "dryer sheets", please stop using that poison on your clothing. You are contaminating your body, and the neighborhood with scented chemicals coming out of your dryer vent that are toxic to everyone else.
If the whole country just used Charlie's soap, and occasionally rinsed with white vinegar if they really feel that they want "softener", the U.S. pollution would be decreased overnight. I am convinced that the popular scented and even unscented laundry products at Walmart and grocery stores, is toxic. Causes asthma, rashes, headaches, migraine, ADD (I experience that just smelling the neighbors' laundry scent) and probably a host of other health problems. The synthetic scents are known to be endocrine disruptors - wonder why this whole country is now so fat? Duh.
