Customer Review: a great idea, but overall a waste of money

I had been waiting for something like the chillow for years, as I get very hot at night. After filling the chillow, I was excited
that both the texture of the pillow, and the dispersion of temperature throughout the pillow's surface were even. I am always looking for a cool corner of my pillow at night, so this was key. However, as the night wore on, the chillow lost all of its coolness, and really seemed like it was absorbing my body heat. By morning, my head was hotter than if I had used a regular pillow.
Throughout the month that I used it, I regularly chucked it off my bed (no mean feat, as it does weigh around ten pounds filled with water). This of course caused the chillow to deform, and like another reviewer, I had an impossible time trying to get it to reform its original shape.
The chillow is a great idea, and I hope there is an improved version at some point. But overall, this piece is a waste of money.

Although still taking hormones I am getting ready to taper off of them & am well aware of what's in store for me!
During the night I don't have hot flashes but do get very hot and have had to stick one or both bare feet out from under the covers to "cool down". This was happening almost every night but has only happened once since using my Chillow (that was the night I put the quilted/zippered hypo allergenic cover on it....couldn't feel the "cool" at all!).
I found some thin zippered pillow cases at the dollar store & they work fine to help keep the Chillow in place (not perfect, but better than just relying on a pillowcase) yet I still feel the "cool" of the Chillow.
I also like the fact that it seems to make the other side of the pillow cooler than usual. So, in the morning when the Chillow isn't feeling cool I can flip the pillow over & feel great!

My husband is particularly warm-blooded. He has had trouble being too hot when he sleeps for quite some time. So our choices were limited. We could either A. turn the air on so cold I was freezing or B. force him to sleep uncomfortably warm. I remembered someone telling me that they had purchased a cooling pillow insert when they started going through menopause and that it was the best thing ever. When I told my husband about it, he sort of thought I was joking, but he was willing to try it. We got it in the mail, followed the instructions for filling and removing air and were ready to go. He has never slept better. Now, I want one! I don't get particularly hot, but I have had crippling migraines for years and the coolness of the Chillow is so soothing, not cold, just right - not that he will share. Luckily Christmas is coming up. Maybe I will get lucky!Customer Review: Chillow is the BEST!!!

I have had my Chillow for about 4 years now and I love it! My son heard about it and suggested I try it for my terrible (menopause) night sweats & hot flashes. I think my Chillow practically saved my quality of life. Before the Chillow - almost no sleep. After - blissful, wonderful rest.
I put mine into its own pillowcase cover and put it on top of my regular pillow. For me, this works the best. I also have to turn it around to the cold side once during the night (because my head makes it warm up where I've been laying on it) but I always go right back to sleep with my cool Chillow. I bought a second one as a "backup" because I could never stand to sleep without it. I recommended the Chillow to a friend who was also having hot flashes during the night and she tells me all the time how she loves it and is so thankful I suggested it to her.

I was kind of dissapointed with this product... it definitly does not stay cool and in order to get it cool again you have to keep putting it in the refrigerator after it's been in there for an hour or two it stays cold for about 2 hours and cool for another 2 hours if that... never lasts through the night and is very stiff to sleep on... however it is nice to lay it on the couch when i have a headache or am just having a hot flash/fever from my lupus... but setting it up was a pretty big ordeal putting in 8-9 cups of water, letting it sit for 4 hours then trying to get all the air out which is nearly impossible! even getting the air bubble to the hole water still somehow spills out... yes, I will keep it but it is very misleading and I hope nobody has paid 40+ for this.... $19.99 at most! anyone who pays over that which was me (23.00) is a fool.
