Customer Reviews of Chillow ® Comfort Device

Customer Review: Great for a few hours, but after that back to warm and clammy
Summary: 2 Stars

I sleep very warm. While my wife loves this, with any regular pillow I wake up with a sweaty warm pillow. I flip it over and that side proceeds to do the same thing. I bought the chillow in hopes that it would help with this and keep my head cool all night. WHat I quickly found out is that it kept my head cool for the first few hours, but half way through the night I woke up to a warm clammy plasticy even more unpleasant feel against my face. I tried cooling it before going to bed, that just made it too cold to start, but eventually it got warm again too. What would be ideal is a chillow with a water cooling system like my old gaming PC had. something where the water is continually cooled. This is not that product and I have quit using my chillow. For as much as it cost, I really expected a better way for it to dissipate the heat.

Customer Review: Beware The Chillow
Summary: 1 Stars

The Chillow underperformed its' claims. First, I couldn't discern any difference between the Chillow and a regular down pillow when it came to keeping me cooler.

Second, the vinyl material has a distinct and strong odor emission. If you are allergic to the chemical smell of vinyl, this is a product to avoid like the plague.

Third. with most sellers of this product, there is a "No Return, No Refund" policy. If you find it doesn't perform or you can't stand the vinyl odor, tough. You're stuck with it.

And, lastly, don't waste any time contacting the developer company, Soothsoft Comfort Technology, with product complaints. They do not respond.

If I had this purchase to do over, I wouldn't. And, if it were possible to give this product zero stars, I would.

Customer Review: Meh
Summary: 3 Stars

If you have such issues with your pillow that any little bit helps, this might be a good buy for you. If you're like me and just like a very cool pillow, however, don't bother. There IS a noticeable cooling effect, but if you already find the temperature of your pillow comfortable enough for sleeping, I don't imagine it's significant enough to merit the purchase (unless you plan to refrigerate it before use).

Of note: (1) In my experience, the cooling does not transfer through flannel pillowcases (which might seem obvious to some). (2) Keeping this thing from bunching and sliding is just about impossible. The back is lined with fabric, but it's pretty slippery--perhaps a bit of anti-slip mat material between the pillow and the device would help.

Customer Review: Great For People Who Sleep "Hot"
Summary: 5 Stars

We love our chillows. My son "sleeps hot" and I have hot flashes. Yes, if you wake up during the night, the spot you are on might be body temperature, so just move your head to another spot! The chillow is always WAY cooler than a cool pillow, and stays cool much longer. I also had two for a while - if one got too hot, I flipped the pillow over and used the one tucked in on the other side. Never have had a leakge problem except when one of the cats discovered it, and poked it full of claw holes while it was getting comfortable. I don't understand the people that have the bunching problems unless maybe they are using feather pillows, and wad them up to sleep on them. We use foam pillows that keep their flat shape, and never have a problem.

Customer Review: I love this thing!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using a Chillow inside my pillowcase for almost 10 years. I love this thing! I no longer toss & turn all night flipping my pillow over looking for the cool side like I used to. I even bring it with me when I travel despite the additional 5 lbs it adds to the weight of my luggage. I can no longer sleep without it. Over the years, the instructions have recommeneded using more water on initial activation. I find this unnecessary and that it works better with less water and a better vacumn seal. My Chillows generally last about 1-2 years. Unfortunately when they wear out, you know so because they leak which can be very messy. My cat has caused the early demise a few. My last one, however, lasted at least 3 or 4 years.
