Customer Review: Beware, warnings of it leaking are true

I read a lot of reviews of the Chillow before purchasing. More than one person warned of it leaking. I take reviews with a grain of salt -- you have to consider how a person used or abused the item. Well, I had the Chillow for about 10 days before it tore at the seam. I followed the instructions to the letter and it looked exactly the way the instructions said it should if done correctly. I had only used it about 3 times. I was laying down with it and I realized I was not just chilly, I was completely wet all over my shoulders. The Chillow burst at a seam and leaked its water and smelly chemicals all over me. This was a total waste of money. It was also a total waste of time, filling it up and then cleaning up after it. I don't know how I missed this product ~ I'm always checking out products on Amazon, plus I suscribe to all kinds of sites related to the issues of retired (okay ..."older") women. Anyhow, my daughter in law bought this for me as a surprise, knowing that I still have relentless hot flashes, and I'm loving it! It may be a little cumbersome, and it does have a slight plastic-y odor, but it works SO WELL, I sure don't care. I agree with the lady who said having 2 of them is a good idea. I woke up yesterday morning at 3:20 a.m. to use the bathroom, and my Chillow was getting slightly warm, so if I had a spare in the closet, that would help. For about $25.00 that's a bargain for me. I purchased this last year for my tween daughter. She has itchy skin, eczema and allergies. It has helped somewhat with her overheating at night. She sleeps on 100% cotton sheets to reduce skin irritation also. We've had a problem since the beginning with the plastic smell, but tried to deal with it, and air out her room during the day. We've had to add water twice this past year, and have used filtered water both times. Just the other day I put my head on her pillow and noticed an odor. It wasn't plastic this time, it was musty. I opened it up and there were tiny black mold specks all over the foam inside. Use caution as the product says not to drain the chillow or add any other liquid other than water.Customer Review: Mixed Feelings for Chillow

I have regular fevers and occasional night sweats...so I was really looking forward to this. The coolness is really soothing and nice when falling off to sleep...I've even thought how great it would be to have a whole body-sized chillow. But by morning, Chillow has snuck off the pillow, curled over to reveal it's pool-toy esque plastic side, and stuck to my upper back and neck. Not only that, but it absorbs so much heat from me, that it feels more like a heating pad by morning. It is so warm that my boyfriend rolled over on it and thought it was a hot water bottle. This makes me sad because I really like it when I'm trying to fall asleep...if only I could heave it off my bed in my sleep.Customer Review: Love this thing!

For years I've been frustrated by having to turn my pillow over and over looking for the cool spot. The Chillow has solved this problem. It feels like heaven when I lay my head down on it at night!
If I could change two things about it:
1) It would be just as cool when I wake up. Unfortunately, your body heat makes it lukewarm by the time you wake up. I solved that problem by buying a second, back-up Chillow. In the morning, I grab that for my last few moments of snooze-button sleep.
2) I wish there was a way to attach it to the pillow so it wouldn't slide around. I'm thinking about attaching velcro somehow.
Otherwise, I just love this thing!
