Customer Review: A fine and pretty job -- except for one thing

These are the "classic" Chinese relaxation balls (also called baoding balls). Each of the two balls measures about 1.5 inches in diameter (ca. 38 mm, a pretty standard size) and the set comes in a charming embroidered box, as so many do. The price was more than fair and the shipping, via First Class, got them to me quickly. These balls are a very useful size for most non-child beginners who want to start enjoying the soothing chimes and the therapeutic effect of taking the balls in hand and giving them a good rotational workout (Go online for more explicit directions, You-Know-Who deleted my link.)
They seem very well-made and the enamel on the outside will clearly stand some abuse. However, something seems to have been lost in the translation. I ordered them from House of Rice, was told the order would be handled by L&M Sales, then by More Fun N Games. USPS tracking told me that the set had been put in the mail in Endicott, NY, but the package actually seems to have entered the mail stream in Pennsylvania under yet another name. Everything went fine and the order never seemed to get bogged down . . . I had been hoping the balls would have a background of blue, but apparently red and green are also available -- or, better put, the fulfilling company does the picking for you. I'm sure they are all beautiful.... the red ones I received are. If you don't mind giving the vendor *carte blanche* on the color, they are not only pretty but also an exceptionally good value.
I cannot predict how long the cloissone-type finish will last under use, as opposed to stainless steel, brass-look or other smooth-sided outer surfaces. It is not unlikely that the detailed beauty of these "three-dimensional" spheres will suffer if they are "clacked" together a great deal -- baoding-ball therapy assumes that such rough treatment will happen only seldom, because some of the benefit of steady rotation exercise is keeping the two balls at a bit of a distance when they are switching places within one's hand.
