Customer Review: Simply Excellent...Baoding Iron Balls

Having read the various reviews on these healthy balls, I decided to give them a try, which seemed reasonable for the Amazon ratings and the price. The ideas of stress relief, of skill building / dexterity, and of pain reduction for working / busy hands appealed to me too because I do a lot of typing and other specific handiwork such as learning to wood carve and needle felt. (I have eclectic interests! LOL ) Additionally, being a huge fan of mythology, of world cultures, of Eastern ideas, and of art, I loved the inspiring phoenix and dragon designs.
I received the healthy balls today, and I was most impressed! They arrived in an elegant storage box. Each ball, smooth and heavy, was as much as a piece of art as a functioning product for relaxation. A little direction booklet, "Iron Ball Direction," was included. It contained text in both Chinese and English, which was a most interesting experience! The statement from this booklet that captured my attention immediately was this: "Of a pair of balls, one sounds high and one low." Of course, that fact just begged to be tested! :) I love the subtle, complementary bell-like sounds that balls make as I carefully rotate them in my hand, and when I move them, I can feel the sounds' vibrations passing from the metal balls into my hand. This vibration does have a calming affect and offers the meditator something to focus on during his / her meditation session.
These healthy balls are worth getting if you want to treat your hands to gentle, but effective exercises, and I look forward to relaxing with them each day.
Note: if you have small hands, these balls might be a handful, especially if your a a beginner to this type of therapy. Small-handed people might prefer to begin with smaller balls such as those in the Running Press Zen Meditation Balls mini kit, which is available on Amazon.

These little things are a nifty piece of gear to have, even if you have no physical needs that would require them.
The balls have baffles in them, and these make a nice sound as they rotate and move. While making the sounds, there are small vibrations on your hand as the balls move.
A point of note, is that you should start using them over a soft surface, such as a cushion or your sofa. It is common to lose one and have it fall when you first learn to use them. Dropping them on hard surfaces can damage them.
Also, contrary to advice given sometimes, you should not shake them, as this can also damage the baffles inside.
Start with two at the same time, and after some time, you can increase them to three or even four, (with one sitting on top of the bottom three).
These balls really work, and after a few minutes, your hands and body will feel very relaxed. I was very surprised with the results, to be honest. They are also great for developing your hand skills in manipulating them without the "clank" of balls hitting together.

Often people comment upon how calm I always am. I am calm in the morning when I wake, and always when I am going to sleep. Right now I am typing in my computer room and I am very very calm. I am simply beyond the worries of the problems of all of the common people who are lost in the world. Now I am above the opinion of others, of course, and I am informed and centered and very enlightened, of course, but I will look to you and find the time, love, and compasison to serve fellow man and say to you that these healthy balls will perhaps make you more like me. I wish you, of course, the best of luck to find the peace that resides in me, perhaps someday you too will be able to see the world as I do and people will look to you for advice and inner strength and wisdom which is what you are looking to me for right now as you read this review.

Customer Review: cheap imitation

I ordered these because I tried a set with yin-yangs that looked similar. These are not the same as the ones I had tried, they feel more... rubbery or plastic-like. They are also quite light weight and within a week one of the bells was broke, clink, clink. I ordered two pair however. I also ordered from the person selling the silver Chinese health balls, these are the ones I use now. please point me at the authentic product, the real thing is no sham. It will improve your posture and well-being and should be used for months to see best result. Your plastic imitations give Baoding balls a bad name. This box and balls appear similar to the original but don't be fooled. You'll know when you have the real ones by the weight you feel and the cool whirring sound they make when you get them going.Customer Review: Kinda ugly, but good

Nice weight, and the enamel has a good feel to it. I have smallish hands, a little less than 7in long from the heel of my hand to the tip of my middle finger, and I found that I could use these balls with ease. I'm not going to lie, the designs are a little bit hideous - though you may like them if you sort of appreciate abstract themes, I guess. The chimes sound a little bit like windchimes, which is soothing if you like windchimes (I do.) It's five bucks, on average, which, ugliness aside, makes this a great buy. And seriously, who buys baoding balls just to -look- at 'em, anyway?
