Customer Reviews of Cho-Pat Dual Action Knee StrapCustomer Review: Like a tendon, I'm torn Summary: 4 Stars
The Cho-Pat Dual Action Knee Strap is a beautiful piece of design. I'd never had knee problems before, but in attempting to come back from an unrelated injury, I pushed myself too hard and apparently gave myself some kind of patellar tendinitis. So I got this, and was thrilled by the way in which its support was designed. It allowed me to walk, climb stairs and get up from chairs without nearly as much pain.
But then...
I started developing a rash behind my knee where the broad part of the strap goes. Also around the edges of the strap on the front of my leg, especially on my thigh. I've never been allergic to anything like this, so I have to wonder if it's due to the close adherence of the strap keeping oxygen off my skin, combined with sweat. Does anyone have a notion about this?
So now I wear it over my jeans, which is fine except when I need to wear shorts. When I'm checked out to go back to the gym, this might be a problem.
Still, as far as its intended purpose goes, it works great. So I'll compromise and give it a 4.
Customer Review: Excellent product and value for money ;-) Summary: 4 Stars
There isn't much to add about the Cho-Pat Dual Action Knee Strap. Apart from my first impression was will it actually work? I put it on as instructed and I agree it's very easy to use and adjust. Thereafter, I was concerned about the bulkiness of the strap above and below the kneecap and how will it actually perform. But I felt comfortable when I walked about/stretched/etc. so I decided to test it for a run.
I did a 5-mile run yesterday and I was very surprised how effective it is. Throughout my run, I felt my knee was much stronger and I can push and apply more pressure on my knee. I feel revived. I can finally enjoy running without the fear of my left knee going haywire.
If you have a knee problem, I highly recommend you to give this a try. It works for me so it could work for you too.
Customer Review: Helpful up to a point Summary: 3 Stars
I have used the Cho-Pat during one full day of bicycling and felt that it provided useful support and lessened knee pain. I have used it on a recumbant exercise bike (for an hour each time) and found its support useful, I then tried it during skiing and felt that its support diminished over seven consecutive days of skiing (about 6 hours of very active skiing each day). I believe that a sturdier knee brace would have been a better choice for the skiing activity. Several years ago I had orthoscopic knee surgery and a fair amount of torn cartiledge was removed. I now have more bone on bone contact in the knee.
Customer Review: I'll never use another knee brace again Summary: 5 Stars
I have severe Chondromalacia (aka Patella Femoral Pain Syndrome) and I have tried a million different knee supports to alleviate my pain during my physical therapy and strenuous activities. Nothing has worked as well as this brace has! With it on, I am able to make it through about an hour straight on the elliptical machine, and a full 18 holes of golf (riding, not walking, I accept that I'll never walk the course again). If I could wear it under my jeans, I'd probably wear it a lot more. If you're struggling with patellar pain, you have to try this because it has worked miracles for me.
Customer Review: Only wore them for a few minutes and my knees were sweaty Summary: 2 Stars
I just received these braces and since they are so thick the area that is covered by these braces receive no air whatsoever. After only wearing these for a few minutes I felt like I had to take them off to make my knees "breath". While wearing them I fail to understand how a simple wrap around your leg can really prevent knee pain. They also have a strong tire scent that I can still smell but I assume that will go away after you wash them a few times. I purchased two of these with shipping it came out to be $70, and that is not worth it.
