Customer Review: amazing product - give it a try
Summary: 4 Stars

I crashed on a motorbike and ,although wearing a helmet, suffered 6 significant sized lacerations to my face surrounding my eye and on my cheek and chin. I looked like a character from a Tim Burton movie! After cosmetic surgery the surgeon suggested the use of Cica-Care silicon sheet and treatment to minimize the scarring.

The silicon gel sheet is costly, however I will actively do anything to reduce the scarring on my face. I work in a corporate environment (that is fairly youth centric) and have to do a lot of presentations, public speaking, video conferences and appear in corporate AV content. Grooming is important and for me to be competitive in my field my personal presentation needs to be sharp. The cost for the silicon patches is a worthwhile investment.

As soon as the stitches were removed from my surgery and the swelling reduced I applied the Cica-Care patches, trimming the larger patch into smaller patches to be slightly larger than each of the scars. I attached the smaller patches to each of my wounds, the silicon sheet has an adhesive side and a side with a ridged pattern. (Other reviewers have criticized the pattern - all I can say is the gel patch is totally transparent - I find the ridged pattern prevents your wound or scar being totally visible through the patch - particularly useful for red angry scars).

I find the patches to be very easy wear and easy care. Washed with water twice a day, with soap and water, mine have lasted almost 4 weeks, you can even shower with then on. I find they stay in place all day no problem. I decided to stick them in place with adhesive dressing for bed time after having to search through the bed sheets for several minutes the first morning after the patches had disappeared through the night!! - I am a very restless sleeper. I have been able to get 2 sets of patches from the 1 sheet. I am using the second set of patches now, in my 5th week of application.

I already had a scar on my cheek from a childhood accident, so an in a position to compare the healing and appearance of my new scars. I can honestly say that after 5 weeks using the Cica-care patches my new wounds are settling in terms of:
- color, they have lost the angry red color and are softening
- size, they have maintained the same size but have not shrunk and prevented the surrounding tissue to pucker up
& General appearance. My new wounds are well on the way to being much less noticeable than my childhood scar.

I am very happy with this product and cannot recommend it highly enough. I encourage anybody that is concerned about scars to give it a try.

Customer Review: Outstanding Product
Summary: 5 Stars

After a bad motorcycle accident I sustained a significant amount of "road rash." This product has simply been the best at reducing the keloid scars I developed on my forearm, bicep and shoulder. It reduced the scars to about 1/2 size after just the first month. Most of the smaller scars were completely flat, much less tender and itchy after 4 months. I tried numerous other products but they did not have the sticking or healing power I noticed from Cica Care. This is the only product that showed quick and measurable results. I was skeptical at first, especially because of the price, but this product has the longest life of any of the other products on the market so make sure to keep that in mind when looking at cheaper products. The less expensive products on the market are smaller in size and have a much thinner gel pad, therefore the reduced price. You can use one Cica Care gel pad for up to about 28 days if you wash it daily after use and store it properly. Other products usually only lasted about 4 days. This product is not an overnight cure, you have to use it daily as directed for a few months to get the max results out of it. I also recommend the use of Hypa-fix tape to keep the gel in place. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Customer Review: Nice idea, bad results

Who would have thought that a sticky cover of silicon would be used for scar treatment? It's like waking up one morning and saying "why don't I use a thin layer of catchup on my freckles?" Useless and irrelevant, this product does not work at all. When you sweat it falls off, wherever you stick it. Besides, it blocks the gas exchange by covering the pores and increases the risk of yeast infection. If your skin is sensitive it gives you rash.

Lets say they are right and it works, which it doesn't. How do you think it would work even if it really did? It would have to "change" something on your skin, right? And it wouldn't be a change solely in appearance, it would have to be a chemical exchange for this product to work! Silicon is extremely harmful to human body. It causes cancer, affects the reproductive system; reduces the testosterone level in men and disrupts menstrual cycle in women. You don't need to eat a spoon full of silicon gel for this to happen; skin contact is enough. Look it up, you'll see.

So if it works, it's harmful. If it doesn't work, why would you get it?

Do not waste your money but more importantly do not risk your overall health.

Customer Review: Good, but there are others that are better

I bought this terribly expensive gel strip and while I was waiting for it to come in, found that Walmart (and Amazon) had 'Dr. Blaine's Scar Care'. I bought it from Walmart and it contained a silicon gel strip that I tried out while I waited for the one I ordered to come in. It worked really great and was not real noticable (I had a thyroidectomy which made a scar that was very obvious). The scar was annoyed and red-even a month after surgery. I thought that when this other gel strip would come in the mail (which was 4 times the price), it would really be terrific. Well, it came in and after trying it for a day, I threw it in the garbage. What a waste of money for me! First of all, there is a pattern on the gel that screams out 'look at me' to all who see it. Also, it doesn't adhere as well or provide the proper hold to keep my scar from moving (which was causing a keloid to form). I would definately not recommend this product buy try the cheaper version as you will probably be much happier.

Customer Review: The Best Product Available for Scar Prevention
Summary: 5 Stars

My 5 y.o. daughter was attacked by a neighbors german shepherd several months ago. She sustained multiple bites to the right side of her face and left side of her throat/neck. After nearly 3 hours of reconstructive plastic surgery, she was left with a total of 14 cm of lacerated/sutured tissue. Obviously, I'm determined to do everything possible to minimize the scarring. Hours of extensive research online revealed that silicone products are the best for prevention/minimization of scar tissue. Cica Care is easy to use & take care of. (Wash with soap & water, and it can be reused..) It is comfortable for my daughter to wear, and it has even reduced the discomfort usually associated with scar tissue. She wears the patches @ night, and a liquid silicone product during the daytime. We are thrilled with the results so far! This is an amazing product & although it is expensive, to us it is priceless.
