Classic Wood Lap Desk
I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the wood when I opened the box. It's really very nice. The pencil lip is made of the same wood and securely affixed.
The lap part is nice quality, too. It feels velvety and is well-filled with something that feels like tiny little beads that are easy to make conform to your lap position. There is even a little zipper pocket there to hold a few pens, pencils, erasers and such.
For me, it's just the right size for sitting in bed and making lists, writing a letter, or even using my laptop.
It's pretty, sturdy, well-designed, well-made and the right size for what I want to do. Can't beat that.
Customer Review: Classy Classic Wood Lap Desk Summary: 5 Stars
First of all it's beautiful, right side up and upside down. That is, not only is the wood fine looking, but the microfiber-covered base (the filled part that rests on your lap) is very attractive in addition to being soft and comfortable. The lap desk is solid, strong, and versatile. It holds my laptop at exactly the right height for typing and seeing the screen. And as it turns out, it's also the right thickness for writing, reading, and--I confess--snacking. It is a bit heavier than previous lap desks I've had, but I knew that it would be when I decided on beautiful wood rather than a more lightweight material. The heaviness is not excessive, however, and it actually makes for a good, secure, solid feeling when it's on your lap, especially when supporting a laptop computer.
Customer Review: Poor Design - Returned Summary: 1 Stars
I had no problems with the desk portion of this product. The wood was nicely finished and the rail at the bottom was a detail that I specifically wanted in a lap desk.
It is with the construction of the bottom that I had the problem.
The cushion is small and attached with a large sharp wooden rim on all four sides. I use my lap desk while reclining, either in bed or on the couch and this design means that the sharp edges of the rim dig into my legs constantly - and painfully. I tried every position to get comfortable using this, but in the end there wasn't one for me, so I've returned this product to the seller.
I had no issues with the seller when I asked to return the item, but a box this big isn't cheap to ship back.
Customer Review: Very Satisfied Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a high quality wooden lap desk with a really low-sitting surface (i.e. narrow height), almost flush with my lap. This is the only way for me to be able to work with my arms in a relaxed position, otherwise my neck starts hurting. I've had two cheap plastic lap desks prior to this one that had low profiles, and they worked okay while they lasted, but they both started cracking and crumbling within a year. Once you have this desk on your lap, you can tell that it is clearly a high quality product, sturdy and durable, and beautiful to look at. It sits almost as low as the cheap desks I owned (mere millimeters of difference). I'm very happy with it, and I will be surprised if it doesn't last me 5+ years.
Customer Review: Classy look for a portable desk Summary: 5 Stars
As a freelance writer who frequently resorts to long-hand scribbling, I needed something other than a clipboard to support my notepad or editing work-in-progress. This lap desk is all I could have asked for! The wood top is very sophisticated. The felt bottom, which appears to be filled with micro-beads, is very supportive. I haven't gotten "desk fatigue" from having the desk on my lap for too long.
I've even taken the desk when I traveled on a business trip, and was able to catch a baseball game from the comfort of the hotel room couch rather than be cramped at the tiny table.
This desk gets rave reviews from this writer. No cheesy design, but a classy look and feel. I definitely recommend it.
