Customer Review: consistency is all that matters

i bought this product about a year ago and used it for about 3 days. I am cleaning out my bathroom so am just getting around to getting rid of it, so i thought i would give my thoughts on it.
It has good reviews and by looking at the ingredients anyone can see it has great potential. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are two of the only substances (wc?) proven to demolish acne. BUT for me personally, this product was too strong. My face felt burnt and raw while i was using this, and i do believe my acne cleared up, but it wasn't worth the irritation. i would only describe my acne as moderate, so this product would probably work well for people who have severe acne over their entire faces.
Unlike other reviews, i am going to give an alternative to this product. I am someone who hates seeing bad reviews that are not only negative but also unhelpful; once i have my mind set on something i don't like to be convinced otherwise.
As my title says, consistency is everything when it comes to fighting acne (I am only 16 but have a good 5 years of experience with this topic.) I feel that my skin looks the best it has in years and here is what i do:
Mornings:
wash with Cetaphil* gentle cleanser
moisturize with cetaphil daily moisturizer with SPF 15
if necessary, spot treatment: Desert Essence blemish touch stick (this product is GREAT, find at whole foods or trader joes)
makeup: neutrogena healthy skin foundation with SPF 20, Maybelline Dream Matte powder
Night:
wash with Cetaphil gentle cleanser (OR if i'm feeling particularly gross and need a deeper clean, The Body Shop tea tree foaming cleanser***)
"moisturize" with Desert Essence Jojoba oil (another great product. there are many articles and reviews on this, google "jojoba oil acne")
again, spot treatment as necessary
a regimen like this is all you need. *cetaphil is a very gentle non soap cleanser so sometimes it will not be enough. i love it though, especially in the winter when most products are very drying. Which brings me to The Body Shop. I LOVE the tea tree oil line. Tea tree oil in general is absolutely amazing, and the blemish touch stick mostly consists of it. the body shop's line probably cleared up my skin to begin with, then i switched to cetaphil in the winter and may switch back for summer, but probably not. like i said, consistency is KEY. If i had stuck with clean and clear advantage, my skin would probably clear up nicely, but it was too harsh for me. All of the acne products out there are most likely as great as they all claim to be as long as you keep up. however they also have to fit the needs of your skin. my routine is great because it is gentle, includes moisture and SPF, and i don't find that my makeup harms my skin either. I hope everyone reads this and listens to my advice. my skin has almost completely cleared up besides a few scars, which the jojoba oil is working on.
