This product is intended for use every other day, which I did for one week. I am an adult w/ not-so-great combination dry/oily skin. The area that I accumulate blackheads is on and directly adjacent to my nose. I sweat a lot by working out, especially in this area of my face, so I really had high hopes for this product.
The directions on the box are not very detailed, I was a bit in the dark as to how the thing even worked after reading all text on the packaging.So I hope this will help you. You put the batteries into it (included, a nice touch at this price) and there is an on/off swivel in the base. A packet of (dry) cleaning pads is included, which should be about a month's worth. The cleaning pad is placed on a velcro-like top part that you get a little wet once you stick it onto the "eraser". First you get your face damp, I use a washcloth. Then you use upward, circular motions w/ the eraser, probably not unlike using an electric razor for a man (I'm not). The gentle vibration assists in getting the active ingredient up and into those pores. I like the exfoliation that I get using the product, it's similar to the way the Buf-Puf system worked back in the day. When I wash my face, I try to leave the lather on for about a minute. Once a dermatologist told me that whatever ingredients are in the wash are working on my skin, but only as long as its on my face. In other words, don't just put it on and wash it right off. Makes sense to me.
My skin did not get dried out, but I could see how some people might be sensitive to it. If you get this product and get sensitive, try to do it less than every other day. I examined my face before and after each use w/ my 10x mirror. I did notice right before I did my third cleaning that my nose pores seemed less clogged than usual. However, if I stop using this, I'm sure things would return back to normal. The active ingredient is salycilic acid, 1%, a pretty typical ingredient for fighting acne. I prefer this to the active ingredient benzyol peroxide, which bleaches hair and clothing. I have used the Clean & Clear facial toner, also w/ salycilic acid, and I liked it, but this device takes cleaning out the pores just a bit further.
I did notice that it was actually fun to use, and the results are there. I would definitely recommend this product to anybody w/ blackhead issues.
